A lot of money.
Gibbo reckoned at the time of 6990 release that 590 could be £100 more expensive

A lot of money.
Yeah by about 2mm, im sure that will greatly enhance the cooling by vast multiples of degrees...
A lot of money.
"Barely Street Legal"? Is it because they'll throw you out of LAN parties for having too much of a performance advantage? Hmmm.
Why do I get the feeling he may be trying to sell the 480's?
Haha like that it rolls out with Crysis 2, that'll be interesting....
Also Gibbo I demand a burger comparison! And I'm not talking about size, I'm wondering how many burgers I could buy for the cost of one of these?! A lifetime's supply maybe?

I don't know if you have noticed but the 3GB 580s are now EOL...
How come they're EOL ? Only saw them out for a few weeks
If you are talking burgers and the 6990 is one burger, performance wise i think the burgers will be the same. If you are talking price i think the gtx590 will be 1.2 burgers. Theres just no way 2xgtx580 gpu's will cost sub £700 making the card a wate of time. I am not even sure nv can take the performance crown either, as they will need somewhere close to full gtx580 clocks to do that. I am sure that nv will try though so expect a beast of a card.
Hogwash, balderdash, stuff and nonsense! 6990 is itself downclocked. GTX 590 will take the crown. If it couldn't NVIDIA wouldn't release.
They released the 470, slower than the 5870 at a significantly higher price. nVidia will release it even if it's slower, if it's slower, they'll come up with some sort of test to show that it's faster "across the board" but in reality, only in very very specific situations.
The 6990 may be downclocked, but they'll have to downclock the 580 GPUs even more (as a percentage) to keep it manageable. 6970 Crossfire is up there with 580 SLi anyway, so they're likely to be very very close. The 6990 is over priced, but the 590 is going to be overpriced on a whole new level, it'll be past the point of ridiculous. I see it as them doing it to "save face" in a sense.
