I don't think it will be though.
Even if the 1170 is 5% slower than the 1080Ti when both at stock speeds, a £300-£400 price reduction for that level of performance will make it a great card.

I personally expect the 1170 to match the 1080Ti, but performance to be imperceptible in a blind test.

@TNA Maybe that's why Palit are always so cheap!

I've actually grown pretty fond of the MSI Armor, which is also priced significantly lower than the premium cards, naturally because I've always rated the MSI Gaming Twin Frozr coolers. The big 100mm low speed quiet spinning fans means Armor does suffer big time on more powerful chips like the 1080Ti, fine on 1080 and below.
I love my MSI Armor 1080. The fans are pretty quiet and no coil whine or anything else. I'd recommend one.

Also love how I'm just four screws away from having perfect Kraken and AIO compatibility on the Armor and Gaming X cards :)

Strong chance I'll consider the Armor 1180 if the cooler stays similar and the 1180 tdp is at least 20% lower than the 1080 Ti.

Will likely be under £700, probably closer to half the price. Will be faster, will be latest tech, will consume less power, will generate less heat, will be less noisy. Not good enough for you? :p

You think the 1180 is going to be closer to 350 than 700? hah

There's no chance of the 1180 being any less than £600 at launch. The 1080 is still £500-600 depending on the model and that's almost two years old. It'd be no surprise at all to see it be higher than £600 either.

Yep, it's all our fault for not buying AMD when they were competitive. Well I did, having purchased a 6850 and 290x.

295x2 was my last AMD card, used to be a cracker but then Crossfire support went down the toilet and I've not looked back! Tbf SLi support generally went down the same toilet 15-18 months later...

A single powerful card + Gsync = Nirvana
