Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Gotta love dreamers thinking sub 600 pounds.. Maybe 1170 :D

My only hope is that Nvidia realise the second hand market place is rather saturated with GPUS. They'll need to make their new cards somewhat attractive to those already with 1070ti and above.

hmm not sure what they would need to have for me to jump on next gpu. Ti is only worth changing to IT init.

Cant wait to see the benchmarks for these upgrade time is in sight .....

I would not get too excited about the next XX80 card.

Remember a Titan V on 12nm using Volta packs 5120 SP cores and in most things is only about 35% faster than a 1080 Ti or Titan Xp.

The difference is small enough that most of the time I just use my old Pascal cards.

its like 99% sure 1180 will be 15% faster than 1080ti thats what they do last few generation. Good jump from base 80 model and temptating jump from TI model just enough so people that dont need upgrade would still want one but cant pull trigger

My 24/7 PC has 2016 Pascal Titans which is more than enough for me. I also have the Titan V which hardly ever gets used or putting it another way "15% faster than 1080ti" is no where near enough for me.

Not trying to be funny Kaap but the 1180 isn't aimed at you, nor is it aimed at those who already have an 1080ti. It is aimed at those of us like me who still have 970's and 980's and any others that are still on sub 1070 performance looking to upgrade.

As for pricing, well the last few have been

970 $329
980 $549

1070 $379/449 fe
1080 $599/699 fe

so I reckon about

1170 $450/529 fe
1180 $650/750 fe

Maybe a tad optimistic, but we can at least hope.:)

Totally agree with you

I think for what it is likely to be

3840 SP
12nm
GDDR6 8gb @3200

£550 would be a reasonable price but I think NVidia will target something like £650 as there is no competition.

wouldn't be surprised if its shown or mentioned at Computex , was meant to be released July and still has Q3 launch date . Cooler designs I believe could be seen from January
Main question is, how long does nvidia keep the FE as the only cards available ? max profits at the start from themselves selling vendors like asus/msi etc their reference models and locking out 3rd parties . believe Pascal series was 3 weeks ? cant remember - taking a stab saying a month at least before 3rd party designs
