There's been a lot of rumours for a 2019 release too especially with the vega/ryzen sony relation leak in the last week.
The Titan is already out and does not use GDDR memory or a 384bit or even 512bit bus so using a 384bit bus for a mainstream card would be no problem.
What is interesting though is unless NVidia use a 512bit bus on a mainstream card (not going to happen) 16gb of GDDR memory is also off the table unless they make some awkward compromises elsewhere.
The Next Titan is already out? won't that make it the current one?
If the next XX80 card is volta with tensor I will give you £20
I don't think its off the table 8gb will be the norm and if there is a need 16gb will come. Like how the 780 had 6gb versions later and I think the 290 only had 8gb version much later.
Its clear nvidia need a large memory bus less than a AMD GCN solution You just got to look at the Fury X and how Vega behaves for that

Will believe it when I see it.
Under £600 and I might bite, I highly doubt it though.
Ha, Ha, Ha, not a chance of being under £800 on launch
I think/hope NV make another Titan X for next gen, something very high end optimised for gaming. The TItan V is nice and was tempted to pick one up until I realised for my use I couldn't justify the cost, andit's more optimised towards professional use I think.Yep these days when you buy a Titan from NVidia you get a choice of architecture, Volta or Pascal.
It will be very unlikely that you will see Tensor cores on a dedicated gaming card as there is no gaming software that uses them. Having said that in professional work a Titan V is up to 10x faster than the top Pascal cards in some tasks.
1180 midrange? We both have different meanings for mid range!1180 will be around £650 or possibly less as ultimately it is a mid range card.

Folks need to stop buying the current Pascal old tat to ensure NV brings us new cards ASAP

Imo the next generation won't be too far away. The fact that some people are holding off buying now will be affecting sales imo
IF it want on the horizon I believe NV would tell us not before 2019 for instance to stop people from waiting. I know it's why I am not buying a 1080ti
£450 to £480 for the 1070.Since AMD are way behind you can bet that they're gonna be uber expensive, sold my founders 1080ti for over 600 quid and they're still over that now. So 1170 gonna be at least 400.. probably not even as low as that, sad to say and that's rather high for a xx70 card. Prices will probably go up even more than last time.
No matter, i got a lot of dosh saving for once. Not gonna jump on something really expensive tho as i gave up doing that, I'll see what pricing is like first.
My definition of mid range is a card that sits in the middle of an architectures range of chips. We have already seen the high end next gen card in the shape of the Titan V which packs -
5120 SP cores
2560 DP cores
640 Tensor cores
There is no way any upcoming gaming GPU will pack anything like the amount of silicon the Titan V does nor does it have to for gaming.
As I have said above my guess is the 1180 will pack 3840 SP cores on 12nm which will make it faster than any current dedicated gaming card from the Pascal architecture but it will still be a mid range next gen card. This will be highlighted when next gen gaming Ti and Titans appear which still have the 5120 SP cores the Titan V does but none of the DP and Tensor cores that are useless for gaming.
Interesting, i'm debating buying a 1080 right now should I wait?
I've been waiting past 3 months though to be fair.
HODL!
