Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Yeah the 2080/2080ti has a heavy early adoptors fee for the RTX tech which will most likely destroy out FPS.

I'm in 2 minds now as the 1080ti price isn't dropping as I'd expect, which makes me lean towards the 2080....

And that, I believe is a big part of the turing price point. It's a calculated move by nvidia to milk both camps, as they allegedly have a load of pascal cards they made for the tapped out far eastern crypto craze. Gibbo's stated that we shouldn't expect pascal prices to fall short term, perhaps even rise a little. They don't want the pascal prices to fall and lose too much on them, leaving them there gives the bang per buck crowd options, and also "justifies" the high price point for the highest cards for those that want the best-no-matter-the-cost crowd. Once the pre orders are fulfilled out to Oct/Nov and black Friday, is the earliest we can see discounts I reckon.

I haven't been convinced to go for a 2080ti, although I could, the lack of proper performance figures thus far, is worrying. Waiting (for me, at least), seem to be the wisest option.

As for Youtube personalities and all the speculation videos - all they're really reporting on is the pc gaming communities perception of this generation, most of them don't have access to insider information. They're like a mirror held up to the rest of us, farming watches/likes for whatever rewards that brings them. They aren't really adding anything objective to the discussion, just giving the subjective hysteria somewhere to bounce around in and echo louder.

Yeah at the moment it probably makes more sense to get a cheap 1080, maybe second hand, instead of waiting for (at least November) the 2060 since it won't be RTX anyway

Exactly what I am thinking. I ain't going over 450 quid for a card. So thinking if I get a 1070ti or 1080 under 400 quid it will match the gtx 2060 , which I bet will cost 400/450 ish. If the gtx 2060 comes in under 400 and offers gtx 1080 performance, I be annoyed as bet wrong lol.

I think we're all (bar the stupid ones with too much cash esp @Gregster ;)) better off pretending that their was no nVidia release this year, and to wait patiently for the proper RT cards which are coming next year with 7nm :p :D

I haven’t seen his name around here much, but can I just say my go to guy is Paul of ‘Paul’s hardware’ proper genuine bloke and who’s knowledge I trust 100%

Interesting to note that Engadget are reporting Nvidia have offered to optimise games for DLSS for free if developers send them their code - this is a no brainer for developers, significant increase in performance at zero cost - I expect to see a lot of games supporting DLSS in the coming months.

Doesn't sound shady at all. There's no way they'd force developers into using routines that hinder performance on AMD cards...

Can someone help me out please:

So:

Rtx2080 at 715 quid = gtx 1080 ti + 10/20 % uplift

Rtx2070 at 569 quid = expected gtx 1080 performance + 10/20 % uplift?

Gtx2060 how much do we expect it to be and at what performance level?. I am guessing it to be around 400/450 quid with gtx 1070ti/gtx 1080 performance?.

From a good analysis of what Nvidia has posted at 4K 2080 = 1080Ti.
2070 who knows, possibly close to 2080 but not beat it.

As for other resolutions bellow 4K nobody knows.

2060 and bellow are GTX cards in Pascal respin.

So NVidia will be adding DLSS on existing titles.... And you trust this company not to cripple the performance on the AMD cards?
Yeah, all good it seems

Which is why we need benchmarks :/

If a 2070 at close to £600 doesn't beat a 1080, it's a complete waste of time (and money). And obvs not just in 4K with HDR (which won't be playable on a 2070 anyhow...)

why a 1080, you can get 1080ti's new for £600 now, the thing is it all depends for most on what they already have. or how loose they are with money.

Agreed, I just hope sales of the card reflect most peoples thoughts.

In a world where "gamers" spend twice as much money as they need too on cases, keyboards, mice, fans and ram, all because they have more..

..multi-coloured LEDs, I would expect Nvidia to sell every 2070/80/ti they produce over the next 6 months at least.

And those large, complex, new-gen chips might have terrible supply and/or yields from the fab, further restricting supply.

Whether we like it or not, these cards will sell, sell, sell, even at the bonkers prices announced.

Gibbo will have a complete set of gold teeth by Xmas. :D

Sorry I disagree :p:D:p:D

As them components & peripherals I have are only
£220 case
£130 mouse
£150 keyboard
£400 ram

:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

Lol

Although I’m not interested in the RTX cards at their current price I am interested in seeing what difference DLSS makes to image quality and at what cost.
