Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Tbh i don't think Steve said anything out of turn.
He highlighted the bit where they point out "And there's a cost to either delaying your purchase or getting an older-generation product so you can save money." and basically replied "Durr, There's a cost to saving money? Hurr Hurr" >.> That was the point I turned it off lol.

Completely baseless accusation - still seems par for the course round here at the moment...
Are you using the term baseless correctly?
Sure, he didn't provide any direct facts on that but by all means doesn't make what he said not true.
He summarized that based on all available circumstantial evidence regarding past history.
Which is just as valid as direct evidence in and of itself.

Perhaps the better word is critical or pessimistic but it's false to say baseless.

nVidia do absolutely *anything* to get ahead, you learn that over the years. Nothing is beneath them it seems.
Going in and altering the code in a way which deliberately hampers AMD cards (instead of just adding DLSS support as stated) would be criminal sabotage - so again, completely baseless accusation. Do try to stay within the realms of reality (instead of stepping into the realms of libel).

You're right, they just use their power to get AMD/ATi performance patches removed because it completely tanks performance on their cards. That's different.

My last comment on the matter, as it's clear from your past posts that you're balls deep in their BS. Enjoy :)

Well, I've ruminated and made a decision. Just pulled the trigger on the powercolour Vega 64 Red Devil. I'll sweat that for a few generations and wait for things to get a bit more sensible.

In a world where "gamers" spend twice as much money as they need too on cases, keyboards, mice, fans and ram, all because they have more..

..multi-coloured LEDs, I would expect Nvidia to sell every 2070/80/ti they produce over the next 6 months at least.

And those large, complex, new-gen chips might have terrible supply and/or yields from the fab, further restricting supply.

Whether we like it or not, these cards will sell, sell, sell, even at the bonkers prices announced.

Gibbo will have a complete set of gold teeth by Xmas. :D

yeah I totally agree, i expect these to sell by the bucket full

These cards aren’t going to sell by the bucket load. What percentage of GPUs are 1080tis? That’s the kind of money we’re talking about. The pound’s value is low and getting lower. Anyone who’s pays theirs own bills will find it difficult to splash this much money period

They will sell well enough... it won't sell the most, but the top of the range never does, obviously. They will manufacture a suitable number. The lower end models always sell more quantity, naturally. The 2080Ti has essentially taken the place of the Titan in market position, so yes, that will limit sales somewhat, but Nvidia know this and they will produce them in the quantity the market can (and will) sustain.

Because turning off Physx turns of the effect entirely. And please, don't argue that developers couldn't create the effect without physx. Like Fog, etc.
Apples and oranges. Nvidia have their proprietary AA in plenty of games. You just use another AA if you don't have their cards.

NVidia have already sold all the FE ones they had available for preorder.

Welcome. Visit the V64 discussion forum, last 10 pages especially there are plenty of overclocking & undervolting settings :)

Nice dodge. I'm talking about ray traced shadows, AO, etc. As demonstrated developers are known to not implement the standard rasterized methods as it's to costly for them to develop it. Which was why some let nvidia code the game for them.
So when you disable RT features it's very possible that the feature simply won't be available in game.

And if you wonder, obtusely, why they would do that. It''s called incentive.
