Such a shame it's compressed to hell!
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
It is an Alpha build and it is a compressed video... but I presume you knew that since it is stated right there in the article, right?
I just wanted the usual new-range performance boost at xx80 price and power. Instead of that we have to spend 1100 for the performance boost and get features no-one was actually asking for like RT.
New PC games are at console prices at release and it takes time for them to drop. Also, it'll take time for developers to get used to (or ignore) RTX and for NV to work out how much GPU performance to give over to RTX features. Along with the much needed shift to 7nm this sounds like a long time before we get the cards we need.
Does look nice thoughbut it must be said, the guy playing is seriously crap

Ray tracing had to happen eventually, though it comes at an odd time with so much focus being on 4k gaming, 60fps+ at 4k and about 60fps at 1080p in some games that have RT added to them.
Still seems OTT with the lighting imo, I don't know if that ray traced lighting or just normal lighting but things look pretty bright at times like the sun on the buildings. Reminds me of oversaturated screens - looks prettier to an extent but you know it's not quite right.
Very few gamers are using a 4K monitor and most with a 1080/1080ti will consider it "good enough" for some time, regardless of the 2080 pricing.
Nvidia had to release these clearly expensive to produce cards with some new must have technology. A few more fps was never going to be enough for the youtube generation of reviewers to get excited over.
So basically, comparing the 2080 to the 1080 Ti, the 2080 is not significantly faster, and indeed slower in some titles.
Does it? Any of the effects are barely noticeable in the vid unless people go out of their way to find something to look at, plus its hitching all over the place. Granted its still early to an extent but they're looking to have this out on launch day or soon after and this is the current state its in.
