Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Yeah I think I'll be sticking with my no stuttering plain old £540 1080 @3440 x1440, I know its early for the game but even so.

I've no doubt they'll get it running better but for an online fps, 1080p and a varying frame rate is far too much of a step back coming from 4k. I'm not downplaying it's importance as obviously it has a place going forward and this is the first step.

Besides the brightness in the vids does anyone really notice anything else? A fast paced FPS is not the type of game where these effects are going to be overly noticeable. Sure you might spot the odd reflection here or there but overall these effects would be more obvious in a slower paced game, one where you can trot around and look at them, not one where you stand still for a few seconds you're gonna get a rocket inserted up your ass.
Yeah, I noticed this. You're not really standing still long enough for your brain to process any useful info from a split second glimpse of a reflection.

This would be ideally suited to games like Thief or Dishonored.

That currently would be my opinion as well, it's interesting to look at but in an fps for the most part its wasted as too much is going on for you to be concerned about noticing reflections or shadows.

So basically, comparing the 2080 to the 1080 Ti, the 2080 is not significantly faster, and indeed slower in some titles.

%s roughly worked out in my head :p

FFV +20%
Hitman -6%
COD WW2 equal
Mass Effect equal
SW: Battlefront 2 -1%
RE7 +8%
F1 2017 equal
Destiny 2 -7%
BF1 +15%
FC5 +35%

Perf is all over the place, frankly. Avg probably something like +15%.

e: 2070 is going to be nowhere near the 1080 Ti.

Really can't determine much from mixed benches, these types of comparisons are ridiculous. It's like comparing two F1 times from different tracks and conditions.

I do, however, concur that 2080 will likely perform lower than 1080 ti. We're probably looking at performance squarely in the middle of 1080 and 1080 ti for rasterization.

Keep in mind the only consumer card capable of ray tracing is currently the Titan V, all game dev work on ray tracing will have been done on titan v hardware or at the very best early RTX prototypes for some of the big developers.

nothing will be optimised for it and it will only get better.

Did anyone read the comment under the video?
1080 and 1080ti results are from old gamersnexus benches - 2080 results are from nvidia slides but they have no idea what the settings were used for the nvidia figures or if they do/dont match the 10 series figures they grabbed randomly off other sites, so that vid is complete bs basically

Because you can't adjust that....
I look forward to messing about with brightness/contrast/gamma to stop the sunlight not look like you staring directly into the sun and the dark bits not look pitch black. That's more a jab at Enlisted, but BF5 isn't great either IMO.

FakeFactory modded HL2 with RTX, i get over 100fps @ 3440x1440 on my 64, max settings :p
