Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Just watched a few bench reviews and the 2080 doesn't even beat the 1080ti in most games! was 10 % less in games like Battlefield. Can't imagine the 2080ti Versions being that much better maybe 20 FPS more on 2k monitors - seems a pointless upgrade and an expensive one at that! Going to Skip this generation and wait for next's years edition.

There aren't any yet - reviews embargo is 14th sept - reviewers don't even have release drivers yet

while gamer's must be feeling let down - film studio's will be nursing a semi over this .

back chat is - Turing is the stepping stone to snapping up the film industry . get that, profit will rise again and will be another cash stream along with AI

bit off topic but - if you happen to know anyone that works in film industry, ask them about the costs, time frame of having to rent render farms to ray trace final cut .

Disney will be raising an eye brow or two

It's quite a small section of the film industry though. There are only a few major players in GFX (especially in England) and you can be sure as hell that the render farms will still charge like hell!

I work in the film and TV industry (Editor) and if you want to sell tons of cards around here, you want to be the best at transcoding. That's what I want to see these cards have a crack at!

And by the way, nvidia already have the edge there. Even the Alchemist ships with dual 1080ti now

I wonder if this card will help with Premiere /After effects and some cinema 4D / Blender. This is heavily used in my day to day work load.

Why would they use a denoiser?

Wow, back in 2007 they were using IBM's SQ20 Cell to do ray tracing. I think that's found int he PS3. It did everything but global illumination.

It's like an series of Halt and Catch Fire.

Nvidia have achieved a lot, because they have the money and the audience as well. But there are plenty of smart guys doing great stuff...support the little guys!

Hope all those powervr guys that have switched over to AMD have a great next release.

If AMD wants to compete with Nvidia on MS RT all they need to do is use last or current gen cards and a bit of driver development and whalla!
Upgrade to die shrunk Vega/Navi and keep your existing R5/R7/R9 series cards for RT.

If it's important enough for AMD to do it. If AMD is ever so inclined how much would it cost you, the consumer?
....
Absolutely nothing! Only the price for admission for next gen AMD gpus that are still focused on regular rasterized games.

Am I not right in thinking the 2070 should be matching the 1080Ti, let alone the 2080. Certainly that is how previous gens have gone.
980Ti and 1070 were eye for an eye.

Rumour is they basically moved the cards up a bracket.....basically to squeeze more money out of people. The 2070 is basically (what should have been) a 2060, 2070 labelled a 2080 and a 2080 pushed as a 2080ti. That's why the Ti was also released so soon. So the actual 2080 ti = ??? the next titan maybe?

Easily makes sense considering nvidias greed.

Well I was firmly of that opinion for some time. Yet due to being attacked by people who had pre-ordered and told to "shut up I don't know anything" I left it at that.

The 2080ti is 775mm2, so that claim makes no sense, the 1070/1080 was 314mm2 and the 2070/2080 are around 4-500mm2

The 2080ti has a single SM disabled so they could do a titan as a fully unlocked chip but at the moment it makes far more sense to keep them as quadro chips
