Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Battlefield 5 (at least the beta) looks great btw, probably doesn't need ray tracing. I can't wait to test ray tracing on my pre ordered RTX 2080 ti on 3440x1440 at 15 fps, though.

Seems a more demanding game than BF1, my 1070 sits between 50-60 with minimums sub 50 on ultra. Was a chunk higher on BF1.

Agreed. The game looks sweet. My bud has been playing it on his Fury but he is getting a lot of hitching, which I put down to being Beta (hopefully) and I am so looking forward to seeing RT in it. Not going to pre-order BFV but will certainly pick it up at some point.

No more childish bickering, we have had to thread ban one poster and spend the last ten minutes removing posts etc. If you do not like the cost saying it once is fine, but lets not have page after page with the same people saying the same thing over and over again.

If one doesn't like the price, then don't buy it. That's what i'm doing. I'm all for paying top dollar for great performance, but the 2XXX series just isn't it. Better off waiting until something to your liking shows up and let others get wallet raped.

The situation would be completely different if Nvidia came out and said, here is a £1K+ GPU, it's 90 to 100% better than the top tier previous gen, oh and you'll have RTX features too for future proofing. That would denote great performance and would justify the price of the hardware.

I get the feeling Nvidia are just pricing the 2XXX series high because they can just now. 2020 onwards will be more competitive for them with Intel/AMD GPUs and next gen consoles arriving, they know this so i think they're taking advantage of the issue as much as possible.

I think Nvidia have priced the RTX stuff so high as to clear out the 10** series stock, then we'll see the RTX prices come down when the 10** stock has cleared.

Good work, boring but good.

Has anyone seen any more hydro (preblocked) cards, interested in the doing come maths to see if the expected high cost is close to that of buying the blocks/plates separately. Never owned a preblocked and designs are starting to look decent!

Would be nice if there was more speculation on the cards than the price tag. I am curious which models people have chosen and why, if they've pre-ordered.

I ordered non, and it's very unlikely I'd buy any card at the current asking price. For me the cost just isn't even close to what I'd be prepared to pay, but lets wait and find out what is on offer first.

I think/hope Nvidia priced the cards this high because the performance will be incredible.
I think it is priced this high because Jen-hsun will be including a tiny piece of his soul, which I intend to make into a horcrux to blackmail him with to bring the prices down.

If it’s like Pascal and the voltage is hard limited in the GPU then it makes a much smaller difference to buy expensive cards. I ordered a pair of the MSI Duke’s as I will be waterblocking anyway, the promo price was the lowest also so figured resale value with reasonable air cooling.

Pascal launch some of the cards like Palit and Zotac were actually the strongest clockers out the box. On the subject of which just occurred to me the ‘after show’ demos had a founders running 2,130mhz+ vs 2,000mhz pascal founders demo so potentially these are going to clock mega fast!

Assuming the extra ray tracing stuff adds significantly to the price.

Reviews cant come soon enough to put it to bed (increase the level of argument). :)
