Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Cant wait to run Star Wars RTX demo soon on RTX 2080. :D

Feel really bad for people who changed their mind after read RTX 2080 reviews and bought £650 GTX 1080 Ti instead that will run ray tracing like slideshow.
It's a bit like Hairworks, If you turn down the raytracing to 25% for the 1080Ti, you will get a better frame rate, while not noticing the difference on fast moving scenes. I'm sure the people who just bough a 1080Ti are felling sorry for those that bought a 2080 for ray tracing, only to be looking at near static images that may as well be a slide show ;)

My comment was deleted and i dont even know why... All i said was that the pricing of the 2080ti was like Nvidia hadnt taken into account the last 2 years of technical advances and said "if you want uber performance, pay 1200 quid in 2016" rather than accepting that this is the performance of Nvidia GPUs in 2018 and we should be paying around the 1080ti release prices for it now....

Come on we have waited 2 year for extra 4k performance to only be told we have to pay ridiculous prices to have it

Love salty people. What would You say about Me spending 2500 for exhaust that gave me 2hp upgrade on my Integra :D.
Some people like Me spend more money on stuff that's even less useful than 2080ti that he will use daily. Sometimes i dont take my car out of garage for 2 weeks cause got nowhere to drive just keep spending money on stuff that does not even get used :D
I'd get 2080ti myself but want some carbon parts for 350z both are well useless and waste of money.
After all it's just money they are useless if You dont spend them.

Have you ever considered that a comment might simply be a joke. I wasn't being salty. I haven't been running today.

The Grinch is green... like Nvidia.

And he stole Christmas, if you believe the story, leaving people disappointed.

A bit like Nvidia have left some people disappointed on here it seems. :P

I'd say stop spending money on slow tat and invest in fast tat with an Evo

I’m for gettin my ti when I get home ( on holiday ) really looking forward to it. Most of the reviews I’ve seen have been on a 4.2gig cou weres mine is a 4.6 so should be a couple of frames quicker I hope .

LOL sorry to jump in here but the beautiful thing about the Zed is they are nice and simple cars, no turbos to worry about , chain cambelt. (i came from a turbo charged belt cambelt before the zed and was happy to get shut of the turbo tbh and just have "simple" power... I owned one for 5 years and in that time only ever had to replace wear and tear parts (disks and pads etc) I did miss the kick in the seat boost of the turbo tho.
my mate had a scooby and that had 6000 mile servicing and was not close to as reliable (I dont know anyone with an evo, tho i do love the look of em)

Perhaps I could have pushed it, kicked up a bit of a fuss and ended up with the card tomorrow.

But in all fairness, I should really be working today and tomorrow, and I was originally supposed to be doing fiancee stuff all weekend with the missus, so it's probably for the best anyway.

At least that's how i'm consoling myself. :p

Still pretty miffed though :mad::mad::mad:

It's going to be hard to work through all the tears :p

Hope they get it sorted out for you pretty quickly.

Well that's a little disappointing.

I received my delivery around 40 minutes ago and ripped open the box as fast as I could...

Only to see a 2080 sitting there when I had ordered (and been charged for) a 2080 Ti.

*Sigh*

A pickup is now arranged for tomorrow so I guess it will be next Tuesday at the absolute earliest for me now.

I blame the driver for swapping his 2080 with your 2080Ti mid run :p

But that is a bummer and I hope nvidia get it sorted for you ASAP. Let us know when you get it as I really want to know what the reference cooler performs like.

Looks to me like the 2080 is a red herring, Nvidia must be rubbing their hands at all the cancelled 2080 orders and reorder upgrades to 2080Ti's for just a few £££ more :p

I gotta admit given the ace in the 2080s sleeve over the 1080ti is Raytracing and DLSS................... its a but rubbish that the card launched without anything to play with that supports Ray Tracing or DLSS.

It will sort itsself out in time but for now.............................................

Ok first run for me on 3D Mark, pretty happy with the boost clock of 1920 for the core and at 72c load and much much quieter than my 1080 FE this is such an improvement. (Posted in the 3D Mark thread also.)

First run with my RTX 2080 clocks at default, happy with the boost.

Not for people who bought the Titan V!

true but lets be honest... everyone - even the people who bought the titan V at 3K must surely have known that chances are the next gen gpu was close, and that it was highly likely that the top 20xx card was going to beat it.

if they didnt know that then they have ignored history the last 3 generations.

TBH I didn't expect the 2080Ti to beat it, but then I hadn't seen how small it's gains over a 1080Ti were (for an extra £2000). I'm sure some people are using the V for it's intended purposes though rather than just gaming.

Really?

If you turn down the ray tracing to 25% for the 1080 Ti on Quake 2, you will get a better frame rate BUT you will notice how terrible noisy on fast moving scenes.
