Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

Yeah this is what we need again, it's the only thing that'll work, people not buying them won't stop NV we need competition

The only reason most want AMD to be competitive is so that it forces Nvidia's prices down, not so that they have an alternative to buy.

Honestly, I see it again and again on these forums and it is the reason I believe AMD have no intention of rushing back to the high end GPU market.

Why would they want to? If all it does is give consumers a cheaper NV card to buy, why waste their money trying to compete if nobody intends to buy a Radeon GPU anyway?

OI i made that comment few times here its my game :D

No actually it was Panos who started talking about monitors and clearly he doesn't know the difference between input lag and response time.
All I said is that more frames per second equals lower input lag but he said that it isn't right because it's the display that is responsible for input lag which isn't fully the case.
You are totally right in your description of input lag muon.

He also said that there are monitors with sub 1ms input lag so where is the proof of that..?

Sometimes I think response time should ALWAYS be called PIXEL response time to save it being confused with input lag. It confuses me often and I always get the two mixed up , or rather say response time when I actually meant input lag!

“If they build it, they shall come”.

I’d buy any card that offered great performance for a great price. I’m being forced to buy a 2080Ti for the performance that I currently want. Not literally but you get what I mean.

I knew the design reminded me of something :p

One thing the new cards clearly do well is asynchronous compute. Time Spy, Doom and New Colossus benchmarks highlight that quite clearly I would say. Likely related to the independent integer and floating point calculations that can be done now. It's where the 2080 clearly pulls ahead of the 1080Ti.

Whilst Vega won't compete with these cards, they may benefit from the increased use of it by developers.

Will be interesting if anyone more knowledgeable can actually look at how the independent integer/FP dapaths in Turing are benefiting existing games.

That guys channel is a gimmic. He doesn't even talk about how it can be/is being implemented, and then drops a bombshell with if it's not an AAA title, then why would they bother.

Get off the internet. If you can't form a compelling arguement then you're going to trip over your own content and lead other users up the garden path.

I found him a lot more annoying than even Adored TV.

And what is he doing in South Africa, when I am there I do 3 things to excess and none of them have anything to do with PCs.:D

right now RT is a gimmick, whether it will be in 10 years remains to be seen but the guy is correct for the present time.

To me the new cards are horrific value and have removed a very functional DVI port for a gimmicky usb port, they are a 100% no buy for me, if I do upgrade it will be a 1080ti. I was going to buy one on the last ocuk offer a week or so back but got sidetracked and missed the deal.

The problem is if AMD ever release something that is good, they will jump on this bandwagon no question, we wont see a AMD card as fast as a 1080ti for £500, those days are gone. :(

It will take a PC market crash not a good AMD card to drop the prices.

I have been proven right that the ethereum crash would not bring the old pricing back.

Why would you fall about laughing if AMD does Raytracing as equally as NVidia? Surely this is a good thing? I would love to see it and in fact, love to see them do it better. I seriously think that you and Panos are still under adult supervision and shouldn't be allowed on the internet.

Still trying to justify your RTX purchase, by insulting everyone who is sarcastic? Get real dude, you are clearly sick and you much seek help.

Would love to see it also. I would actually like to see AMD catch up and Intel to come in and take market share away from Nvidia. This would benefit everyone ultimately and we would never have a xx80 Ti class GPU cost a four figure sum again. Those should be around £600-650 on launch, but currently the non ti is not even priced like that.

Truth is I cannot see AMD catching up for at least 2-3 years (at the high end) and I also cannot see Intel coming in and taking the performance crown on their first cards. So happy to stay with my G-Sync monitor until the warranty has runs out in 2 years time at the very least. If the 30 series does a much better job on on price for performance and I get that, then probably that would last me many years anyway.

If Nvidia price the 30 series silly also and AMD do a better job in providing better price for performance, I might just sell my G-sync monitor and go to Freesync 2. RTX will also have a big say in that though, if it turns out to be good in 12 months time and games like Cyberpunk 2077 support it, I will be happy to pay the premium for that.
Spot on. Competition is seriously lacking and much needed. I expect OLED sometime in the future and like you, if AMD do a decent job on the next/or after GPU, I would have no issue going AMD and Freesync.

I think your the one that needs help, AMD shareholder still. Your probably one of the worst posters on OCUK, so much hatred towards Nvidia, did Jen **** your misses or something ?
