Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

What's the deal with the 6+8 pin arranged like that with a big gap between them? That's not how it should be done... see below... gap should be on the other side. Custom cabling is going to look horrible if it ends up like that!

Id wait and see; You could pick up an 1160 which will likely perform better than the 1070 and have up to date hardware for upcoming games.

For me, I think it’s always better to buy at the upper end; you get a better gaming experience with greater longevity, especially if you’re at 1440p rather than UW/4K. My 980 is still serving me very well, I dropped down from SLI and don’t miss it, if I’d gotten the ti I’d probably wait another generation.

As it stands I’m waiting for the 1180ti, and that’s because of want, not need. I’m waiting for the ti because I should be able to skip the next generation and continue to have a great gaming experience into the one after that. At the lower end it takes far less time before you’re turning settings right down to get decent frames.

Just my tuppence, but I suppose I’m lucky because what I spend money on is up to me; the mrs and I don’t tend to influence each others purchasing decisions. I appreciate that’s not the case for a lot of couples.

Yeah I've thought about this myself. At 1440p an 1180ti "should" in theory see me right for a good few years. I'll see what the prices are on release.

Cheers for the input

so an 8+6 pin, on a card thats going to totally obliterate the 2x 8 pinned Vega 64, and be far cooler than it as well.

Just goes to show you how far ahead they are.
You jealous? :p:D

As I know you like multi gpu, you should considering doing this this:

Best of both world's and now you would be able to complain both about sli and crossfire both at once! :D

8+6 pin set up..... maybe nvidia has hit a plateau and now needs a node shrink to 7nm instead of going from 16 to 12nm ....

this might be AMD chance to catch nvidia off guard if their 7nm of what ever chip they do, polaris/vega/navi can gain good performance numbers, low power/heat and cost savings + higher production count.

fan of competition and would be funny to see AMD finally getting on the heels of both nvidia and intel . know doubt Turing will be a power house though (just like i7 8700k)

An hour ago it was also still Turing. Now it's Ampere again. We're 18 days from launch and we don't even know what codename the whole architecture has. Nvidia nowadays can really keep a good secret.

We're 18 days from launch.

We hope....... TBH I think it is risky assuming this as fact..... I think there is an incredibly good chance of an announcement of the cards, but actual launch.... like i said, I hope so but I will believe it when i see it, and someone like gibbo posts here with confirmation of stock.

So basically they don’t know and are making stuff up? No surprise there then, business as usual :p

Exactly. And that PCB could be an engineering one for Tesla.

Dont you remember the GTX1080Ti? After May 2016, every month they had a post "is coming in X". Where X was the "next month". They did it right in March 2017 though :P

The one I never forget is the RX 480. They made a bunch of lies about it’s performance.

The guys running that place know that there is a large number of people who are desperate for information, so much so that they don’t care if it is accurate or not, as long as it gives them something to talk about.

Same thing they did with Vega and FuryX.
