Geforce GTX1180/2080 Speculation thread

IF no one noticed. This leaked 2080 Board also looks like it won't have a quadro version due to a lack of certain features on the board.

You would maybe get better results with a 8700K at 5.3GHz. 4.4GHz is weak :p

Also 8X MSAA does seem a little overkill at 2160p. That is more for potato resolutions like 1080p/1440p imo.

At 2160p you don't really need to go faster than 4.0 on the CPU even with extreme GPU setups as the most you are chasing is 60fps that the monitors support.:)

Generally speaking yes, but is this true for Crysis also? If so, then you are saying it is not cpu limited at 4K but GPU limited still?

By the way, I am referring to benching results for crysis specifically which as we discussed earlier was limited by the cpu.

It is CPU limited @2160p but 60fps is easy to get, unfortunately for 1080p people want more than this.

It is a long time since I benched Crysis 1 but IIRC one of the reasons it is not good to look at is the fps are all over the place due to the CPU bottleneck. Crysis 3 on the overhand tends to have low and high fps close to the average as you can see from the example I did earlier.

That is why I said you need a 8700K 5.3GHs (for bench results) Kaaps. Lol :p

8xMSAA is overkill on anything over 1920x1080, Hell, even 4xMSAA is a bit overkill on 2560x1440 IMO.
Indeed. As a 4K gamer I would be more than happy with 2X MSAA.

But many people here must play games maxed out (otherwise what’s the point right?) so they would end up with low fps and then complain. Lol. What they don’t understand is after a certain point there is diminishing returns at 4K. You don’t necessarily need to max everything out at 4K to make it look great. As I have explained it a few times here now, things look better with less AA and on “Very High” settings at 4K compared to 1440p with more AA applied at “Ultra” settings.

Not referring to you btw Kaaps :)

^ Lol, wow. It looks like a graphics card.

lol
it shows how desperate we all are for any crumbs of info . hopefully this time next month we will know where we stand, both on price, performance and lead times on getting in our hands..

btw just hit 500 posts... i was very excited to now get access to the classifieds forum............. when did it become 1000 posts!

Haha! Indeed, preaching to the choir. Until we can power UHD sufficiently at high FPS i'll be at 2560x1440 with some AA

Don’t worry mate, you will have 1000 by the time the 1180 is out. Just keep on posting and talking about all this fake news and you will be there in no time.

1080Ti can do it already if you are happy to tweak settings a little on a few really demanding games. 1180 should be able to do it just fine. But obviously not at max settings i.e. 8X MSAA etc. If people want that then they have to wait another 2-3 gens of cards. Lol.

honestly i had no idea how much of a killer MSAA was!. it is pretty much the single biggest framerate killer for me, esp if i go to 4k.... it doesnt even make that much difference at 4k IME
