Hi
I am having an issue with my GPU 2070 Super and I really hope someone can advise. I have had my PC for about 9 months from OC and it’s all been great until now. I am having a problem with the GPU where the middle fan goes to full speed and revs every 30secs to a minute for no reason even when on desktop and from boot I have monitored the temperature during these times and it’s happening when only at 28C. My first thing I tried was to download MSI afterburner and no matter what I set even with fans set to 0 this is still happening. Video below shows what I mean, any help would be great. Thanks

I’d probably make sure the card has the latest bios firstly. Gigabyte cards are full of bugs like this, have seen many threads with similar issues.

I would suggest setting to nvidia 3D control panel > power management > adaptive power and perhaps setting a constant fan speed above 40% idle and increase during gaming, but if it’s happening at 28c then the above likely won’t make a difference but worth a try if the bios update doesn’t do anything.

I don't know, but if it was me the second thing I would try ( after using Afterburner ) is replacing the fan. You can often find genuine Gigabyte fans on ebay for about £5.

Don't really want to mess about with the bios not something i've done before.

I am still under warranty from OC i am waiting their response.

OC have said they will swap it for a like for like and offered me the 3060 but looking at the benchmarks I feel I’m being downgraded am I right? Looked a comparison video and there were 40 FPS difference on one video I seen.

The 3060 in real benchmarks is less powerful to the 2070S by a long way. The only thing is that with the current state of the market you are lucky to get anything at all. If they return your money you won't be able to buy anything. Has the card been registered at Gigabyte? If it has then you have many years left on the warranty. I would keep using it until it blows up then send it back to Gigabyte. Either that or wait three months and talk to them, they should be able to fix it whereas OC of course can only replace it. Worst case, fix it yourself. If you replace the fan for a genuine Gigabyte part they won't be able to tell.

As it turns out it’s the RTX 3060 Ti they are replacing it with so it’s a fair change I think and yeah it’s Gigabyte.
