GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Question

i cant see any reason it wouldnt work mate...in fact it would probably be a great addition on that already fabulous board :-)

That board won't run with 4 double-sided memory sticks, which is pretty much all of them.

Although not the same board I'm runing 4x GeIL 1GB PC2-6400C4 on a GA-EP35C-DS3R completely stable - so would have thought your chances were better than good.

grrr i been reading about it online. i bought 2 sticks a few months ago and it ran great.

Just seen the memory again in this week only last week. impulse buying on my part i should have read into before hand i guess.

it boots with 3gig fine and seems to work fine. should this cause any problems?

Hmm, reviews say it won't boot with 4 sticks but yours does.

Stupid question but you are running a 64-bit OS? 32-bit won't recognise 4gig.

nope it does not boot with 4gig but it does boot with 3 but i get blue screens after a while.

when i say 3 gig i mean 3 sticks of ram rather than the 4

Am runnin vista home prem 32bit

yeah i know i wouldnt get the full 4gig i know it would show up as 3.5ish

aye thats what I am thinking!!! ah well can always get a new mobo i guess.

i cant find anything online with anyone running anything more that 2 sticks on that mobo.

I have the same mobo and was recently wondering the same thing.

some looking on google and i found this

"Basically the P31 chip does not support the 1333 FSB natively. Gigabyte and others make it do this through overclocking. However, when you OC the FSB on this chipset, it drains the memory voltage. Double sided memory modules draw more voltage(1.9-2.4v) than single sided(1.8v).

If you were to use four sticks of say, Corsair Value ram(single sided), you should be OK. However, if you load it up with 4 sticks of XMS(double sided), then you are likely to have memory stability problems due to the voltage draw. This is why the MB bumps everything down to 1066 FSB(266 base). "

I was going to take the risk sometime soon, and go for ram that only needed 1.8v like the type i currently have installed. but might end up doing like Cob said..

would be cheaper if you could sell your current 2x1gbs. unfortunately mine is some cheap and unknown brand :) so wont be getting to much for it.

I guess it would be too much of a pain if i filled all 4 sockets and it didnt work. :(
