Hey all,

My Geil finally seems stable at 836mhz 4-4-4-12 at 2.0V

Just wondering what this RAM can safely run at. my FSB at the moment is 334 with 2.66multi for RAM which gives me 836mhz. that means my E4300 is runing at 3.00GHz dead. How much more will I get from my RAM you reckon? Cos I can turn the multi down on the CPU to keep that in and around 3.00GHz as I don't want to go further.

thanks

i've tried 850mhz on standard voltage and timings and it didnt want to know. so I've stayed on a stable 836 but wanted other peopels overclocks on them

mine is now running 888mhz 5-5-5-12 at 2.0V

Next step is tighten timings up a bit before I go for more speed. Which timing makes more of a difference to tighten i.e. is 4-5-5-12 better than 5-4-5-12 say??

right ok. will try that. is there anything that could go bang or break during this though. I mean if I keep pushing, can I fry anything?

I'm assuming if I keep the voltage fairly low then it will be OK.

well I tryed 888mhz @5-4-4-12 and it didnt boot so I left it at 5-5-5-12. Migh try increasing the voltage later on but I'm happy for now.

I am a little concerned to find that when I ran memtest the one that runs in windows for about and hour and 15mins it found 17 errors

RMA?

at the moment my worry is the memtest errors :(

I was thinking of RMAing this and getting some 2GB in here. Or if not RMAing then I know someone who wants it off me.

right thanks for the advice. will try that. thing is, I know my Geil doesn't like 2.1V

Runs even worse on 2.1 than 2.0v. 2.0v is quite smooth. can run for weeks like that and blue screen once in every 2 weeks or so.

I was running it 800mhz 4-4-4-12 2.1V and it didnt like it. Blue screen once every two days or so. Turned voltage up to 2.2, no change. turned it down to 2.0 and much much smoother. Will try the other slots though since I have never tried them

Well I have been running memtest flawlessly today with a watered down overclock of 880mhz 5-5-5-15 on the RAM and 2.96ghz on the CPU and that seems to be fairly stable. So I'm going to keep it at that and try to get 5-5-5-12 timings if I can
