Just built a new system using the Geil Ultra 6400 and have a problem I just cannot solve.

Using a ASUS P5K mobo. Problem is as follows:

When I initially built the system I installed the two modules in BANKS 1 and 3 as suggested by the mobo. I built everything and went to boot up for the first time to install Vista and it hung at the first screen. (BIOS boot screen) My keyboard briefly flickered and would not respond (was hoping to press the DEL key :)

So I figured it was a USB keyboard problem, went and got a normal PS2 keyboard but that wasnt working either, figured I would start with an easy one so removed the RAM from bank 3 and poof works. So i then embarked on a long trial of everything I could come up with :

Forced the BIOS to use the RAM as DDR 667 or DDR800
Tried the RAM modules in all banks of the mobo. Trying both banks individually as well as in pairs. Both work individually but will not work together.
Have upped the voltage to 2.1 and still not diff.
Set the timings to 4-4-4-12 and even tried 5-5-5-15 and 6-6-6-18 to see if anything nope two will not work together.
All system voltages etc appear fine, got the latest BIOS, still no no sign of life with 2 banks filled.
To check overall stability I fully installed vista with one bank and its fine its literally just the RAM thats proving to be an issue.

really struggling to try anything else, as both chips work individually I wonder if they are just incompatibile with the p5k

Other system specs
OCZ 600W supply
GTX 8800
E6750

Any ideas, RAM was bought here but I wanna try to rule out the possibilty of it being anything else before I have to return (if I can).
Also any suggestions as to highly compatible RAM with a P5K? Have used GEIL before and have never had any issues with it so kinda wanted to stick with it.

Is the problem only evident when running in DDR mode? Have you tested the modules in a bank configuration that prevents DDR (possibly 1&2)?

It is probably worth repeating your tests outside of Windows with Memtest.

Yeah Ive tried it in all banks with both chips so
1&2
1&3 (preferred choice)
1&4
2&3
2&4
3&4

its having none of it at all, no difference at all on any banks, 1 chip = will run fine and load windoze, any 2 banks filled = wont even post, hangs about 1 second in (when checking ram is my guess)

Well if both work fine separately but not together perhaps the problem is with your motherboard. Can you borrow some other memory to test it?
