Hi,

Ok im now setup with my new system (after lots of problems). I noticed in BIOS when it was booting that it mentioned something about it displaying my RAM as PC5300.

I have Geil PC6400 DDR2 (2GB).

I have run CPU-Z and it is showing the following:

It shouldn't be set to 400MHz should it?

What do I need to adjust in BIOS? (rookie!)

Speed is fine, but strange it's just over 400 not 400 exactly. Have you applied a tiny overclock?
For better performance you should alter the memory timings in your bios to 4-4-4-12 though. Several threads about how to do that

Not overclocked at all, just come straight out the packet without any alterations. I'll have a search for those threads! Cheers

What problem do you have with the ram ?

PC6400 runs at DDR2 800mhz. Hence each stick running at 400mhz. So yeah there's no problem.

The first bit is correct but the second bit is misleading.
The ram runs on a bus speed of 400MHz. As it's Double Data Rate it runs internally at double (x2) 400MHz or 800MHz. One stick, 2 sticks, 3 stick, 4 sticks it still runs at 400 x 2 = 800. You don't have to have 2 sticks to get the magic 800MHz number.

No problems with the RAM, I just thought that each stick should be 800MHz and not 400MHz each stick!

Each stick is 800MHz DDR.
400 x 2 = 800

400 = Your FSB
2 = Double Data Rate
800 = The memory speed
