Hi guys, I built the rig in my sig around november of last year and slapped in 2x512 Geil PC6400. This is DDR800 memory. When I overclocked I could not get it to run past about 410Mhz so I assumed it was a poor clocker. However I have just gone back to stock settings and noticed that CPU-Z reports it running at 371MHz!
Any ideas why? Was I actually overclocking by 40ish MHz and why doesn't the memory run at 400Mhz at stock? It is set to DDR 800 in the BIOS!

Any help gratefully recieved!

By the way the mobo is a Gigabyte GA-M55S3G+
Cheers

Yeah i've tried it at timings all the way out to 6-6-6-24 at 2.2v and still won't go any further. Anyone think it's the Northbridge? It gets rather toasty and is only passively cooled. I think i'm gonna fit a cooler to it tonight if I get chance!

Mine runs to at least 837mhz at stock volts and timings. At the moment it is running at 935mhz @2.2v 5-5-4-15. :D

Have you tried updating the bios?

Nothing to be worried about. It's an issue with the way the onboard memory controller on AM2 Athlon 64's work. You'll rarely get a given memory divider to run your memory within 10mhz of the speed it should be with those CPU's
