bought a new system including the geil ultra ddr 80 that was on offer on ocuk last week

as its pretty high end i took it to a shop to be built and recieved a call that the system will not boot with the ram in, but will boot with other ram in

the shop has toldme theyre going to try it with another motherboard today to see if its an uncompatability prob, but i was wondering if it was possible that the mobos default settings might not be giving the ram enough power and how id go about fixing it

the current set up is as follows, but as i say hes trying it with an asus mobo tday

ecs c51gm mobo

am2 4600

geil ultra 6400 2gb

nvidia 7300

western digital 250gb

sony dvd rw

450w psu and case

any help would really be appriciated

The geil memory is rated at 2.1v and with max mem voltage of 1.9v it may struggle

"Out of the box, this MB defaults to a memory voltage of 1.76v which must be increased to 1.9v (the max avail with the MB I have) to allow reliable, but reduced speed, operation with this 2.1 volt OCZ memory."

They could boot with the other ram in .. up the memory voltage to 1.9v .. install the geil and try again, but i dont think the geil's gonna be very happy. My DS4 however did post with 1.8v and i upped to 2.1v

cheers, hopefully the other asus mobo theyre trying it with will work, i thought it was the mem voltage, dont think the guy in the shop believed me and hed never even heard of geill before which is kind of worrying
