Geil voltage woes

hi,

i'm having huge problems with my new rig, i've updated the bios and configured the memory to run the following; 4-4-4-12 with 2.1v vDIMM however, I can only get into windows if I set the voltage to "auto" or normal (1.8v) I even tried 5-5-5-15 but the same thing happened!

yet booting into vista with the rated 2.1-2.3v gives me either a BSOD straight away or reboots 1-2minutes in orthos

thing is the settings are standard, fsb is 266, multi 8x, mem divider "auto" and all other voltages/settings are stock

spec;
e6420
Geil 2gb 800 ull
gigabyte DS3P
BFG 7600 gt oc
Noctua NH-U12F
Corsair HW520
Vista home premium

any ideas would be great!
cheers

I have indeed mate and it seems to "work" i.e I can get into windows

I just tried 2.1v again and BSOD loading windows :o

i've just tried memtest with stock settings and memory at 2.1v and it passed?

I took the cd out and rebooted and windows was either blackscreen, BSOD or explorer crashes

i'm confused even more now ..... :D

Strange, I have that same kit and it runs fine on just about any voltage. Overclocks to over 930MHz too on +0.2v... Maybe you got some dodgy sticks.

this is becoming even more crazy, I tried 400FSB x 8, with core 1.45v, vdimm 2.0/2.1/2.2 and all failed Orthos straight away/not even getting into windows

I even took out one stick to no suceess untill... I then tried default core and 1.9 vDIMM with 400fs x8

i'm now at 3.3GHz with stock voltages all round and 1.9vDIMM at 4-4-4-12  I have only done 30mins orth so far but I want to push it as far as I can on stock, fail, clock it down a tad and then 12 hour orth it :)

all I can say is GeiL sell some crazy ram!

cheers for the help guys but this "problem" might turn out to be actually a bonus!
