Nothing like resurrecting a 3 year old thread !
I just fitted an FX8350 a couple of weeks back, replacing an X6. And the issue of that painful one screw hit me again. The first time, I had fitted it outside the case, so I had sideways access to it to screw it in. This time, obviously the motherboard remained in the case, and I had to try and screw it in from above. It went in at an angle, and although it is solid, the screw and backplate are probably ruined now. Trouble is, I now need to replace the motherboard becuase my existing one barely copes with the 8350 even though it is officially supported, so I might be looking at an entire new cooler bacuse of this stupid design issue. I've emailed Gelid to see if I can buy a new AMD backplate and screws, but I think it is unlikely. Maybe I'll post in MM - must be dozens of Intel owners who bought these that didn't need the AMD mounting stuff and would be prepared to let me have them for a small cost.
