I fitted this 18 months ago.... On an AM3+ board
I recall srewing down 4 screws into the mount on the board, but all 4 of those screws are obscured by the heatsink itself. So I can't undo them, but equally I don't know how I screwed them down in the first place !

I recall having to actually angle the screw driver at around 15degrees, or whatever you need to loosen the screws. Will have a look at mine and double check.

I seem to recall mine had little thumbscrew thingies (I think mines a V1.0) Plus I think it's easier with the fan unclipped.

Well i opened my old case and had a look. Im using old 775 sockect so cant imaging the placement of screws is that different. Have two Rev 1 like Damdog. You definitely have to remove the cpu fan first to expose front screws. Sorry for stating obvious. Id also consider removing rear case fan, as in my case, i simply didnt have the room to access last set of screws. Again try angling the screw driver if you still hav problems. Wouldnt mind seeing a picture if you have the time.

Mine is a rev 2. I'll consult the website, AMD mounting is a little different from Intel. Most frustrating, shiny new CPU to install, and I can see no way of doing it. It may need to go into my other machine. Grrr. Never ever had this issue before, and I've been building PCs for years.

Thanks for all the help ! For now I've fitted the CPU in another machine, where the Akasa cooler was removed in seconds...
