What are these actually like then? Wiki writeup seems pretty good, and I quite like the looks. I have seen one for sale at a reasonable price, could be tempted.

Whilst I'm here what about the DB8 Type-R, are they as good as the regular 2-door DC2, or do the extra 2-doors effect it for the worse?

Lude Type S is a very good car and probable the lude i would have if i had any of them.

As for the DB8 no the extra doors dont effect it all that much tbh. if you search youtube for vids im sure you will find one of it on track against the 2 door......there aint much difference.

HI m8

The Honda Prelude Type S is one hell of an amazing car.

For me its practically as good as a DC5 on the track but its a far better cruiser with a lot more torque actually making it quicker in a straight line.

Superb car in all ways and Honda reliability. :)

Like them a lot, especially with the Motegi kit on, look a bit plain otherwise I find :)

Totally agree, was looking at them 7 months ago but got put off by the costs of things going wrong, was told the 4ws pump cost a small fortune?

HI there

The Type S is kitted out as STD, you don't need to do a thing with them, truly amazing cars. :)

I'd go the other way actualy as to say that your better off getting a late fourth gen Prelude if you don't mind the looks. The weird front diff in the type s doesn't really do too much and I wasn't that impressed when I tried one shortly before buying a fourth gen with an LSD.

I saw a 5th gen type-s at japfest in 2005, it seemed a good bit quicker than other ludes, seemed to overtake most of the other hondas on the straights without much trouble :)

Theres a best motoring vid kicking about that has the 4 door teg aswell as the 2 door in it, there doesnt seem to be much, if any difference.

put it this way, its the closest you'll get to a prelude "type R"

Its got the handworked engine, better intake, higher compression blah blah and about 220hp through an ATTS (automatic torque somethingorother) diff.

They are certainly nicer places to be in than a teg if you're on the road, depends if you want more of a GT car or an ear bleeding screammobile.

Type-S: Rocking horse **** ;) Good luck finding one!

DB8: Heavier, longer and less rigid than the DC2. Harder to source(;)) parts as engine aside a fair few bits are different, but they do tend to go for (relative :p) peanuts. If you need the 4 doors then the ATR's the way to go.

I've (accidentally as it happens) found examples of both, at good prices too, hence my asking. I really don't need the 4-doors atall, but I just happen to have found one for a good price ;)

There's a red one at the South West Lotus centre place that looks nice, if only the interiors were better!

Although saying that, this one isn't too bad, I can't stand the ones with the velour seat they look really naff. And no wood trim is a bonus.

They don't have 4ws in the Type-S so i dunno where you got your info from and the system in the 4th gen is electric so there isn't a 4ws pump anyway. Parts are expensive from Honda, but peopel break Prelude all the time so second hand parts are always avialble and most are common between all *** models so 4th gen parts will fit a 5th gen.

The type-s pushes out 220bhp from the H22 engine as stock, there's a few on www.preludeuk.co.uk deffo worth asking on there, a chap Gavster has a black one.

Only thing i don't like aboout the 5th gen is the square front lights, if I ever find one cheap enough a 4th gen front end is being fitted to it. :D

Piccy's of the Gavsters at JAE this year

I'm pretty sure thats not the Type-S spoiler, I think its a similar size to the normal VTI spoiler.
I looked heavily into getting a Type-S as it just looked like an amazing all round package. Heavily tuned H22 engine, ATTS for amazing cornering ability, pleanty of comfort and stunning looks. The thing that put me off in the end was insurance, being 21 and it being an import it just killed me. I never actually got to drive one but I really wonder how it would compare to the ATR. If its as good then its an awesome car, if its better then its a really really awesome car and go drive one and tell me about it :)

that's the stock Type-S spoiler, simliar to the Accord type-r one

It's a touch higher than the ATR one, maybe 2-3 inches but a looker

ATR's are fab (as was mine) but a little dated now & around the ST200-level for straight-line performance at least (Dangly's ST220 edged me in my ATR) - Wouldn't get nearme now of course ;)

And DAMN do those bitches passive-oversteer :D

Point.And.Squirt. :p
