General advice on RGB connectivity/compatibility/etc

So, I built a machine no so long ago, NZXT case, NZXT motherboard, NZXT watercooler and fans....
Basically, I didn't have to think about it too much, it all turned out great, with the NZXT CAM software working really well to control it all. Very happy with the setup.

I'm looking at building another, but trying to avoid some of the more expensive NZXT parts this time around. For example, I want a bit more freedom on motherboard choice.

Trouble is, I'm a bit lost when it comes to what works with what. I don't want to end up with case/rad fans that don't work together (in a coordinate colour sense), or the AIO Pump, etc, or end up with multiple bits of software not talking to each other.

So, anyone got some general pointers on what kind of options I've got?
Are there particularly awesome but well priced eco-systems to buy into?
What software to people use that controls RGB fans, AIO pump RGB, etc ?
Are there any reasonably priced RGB fans out there? From the few I've looked at so far they're pretty pricey :(

Any tips appreciated.
Cheers

I think you'd be looking at a standalone RGB ecosystem that is not reliant on motherboard connectivity.
Several systems are well-priced for what you get... they're just not especially cheap. Corsair is a common starting brand, but I would advise Aquacomputer, as they go far deeper into a lot more than just fancy lighting.

I use Aquasuite to run my Aquacomputer kit, along with other compatible products.

Use third party software like signalrgb or the other one that exists but I forget it's name.
Then you can ignore which brave makes what and just buy what you like, assuming your board has a 3pin and 4pin rgb connector.
