Hi everyone,
Looking for some advice.
My Canon EOS 300 and my Minolta 7000 are both displaying the same problem - where a red cast is shown on the picture. It doesn't effect all pictures, but it does effect a few of them. I'm wondering whether it could be a development fault, or a camera fault, to do with light getting in through the back door due to knocks, through the viewfinder upon exposure or something else. I really can't tell!
At the moment, I have a Minolta 70-210mm f/4 lens (a similar one is expensive to come buy on Canon fittings), as well as a Minolta 50mm f/1.7 for my Minolta camera.
I also have a cheap, nasty 28-80mm USM II Canon lens for my Canon camera, complete with a plastic mount to go on the plastic mount of my Canon, which I may well sell, although it does come out with good pictures.
Anyway, I would like to hold onto the Minolta lenses as they are expensive to replace. I have found they successfully work on a Dynax 300si, and a Minolta Customer Service rep e-mailed me to say that my Minolta lenses should work on a Dynax 7 too. They are both good quality lenses that come out with nice pictures.
Would a replacement 1985 7000 be worth buying? Bearing in mind, my one can't autofocus anymore, as well as that red cast problem. Although I can still get some smashing pictures out of it? How much would I be expected to pay for such an old model?
Also, I got outbidded on a 9000 which was hitting the £104+ price which I did think was too much for such an old piece of kit. They are known to have autofocus problems eventually, like the 7000, as well as LCD bleed and all the other bits and peices you have go wrong with older camera equipment (gooey seals, corroded battery contacts etc).
Finally, the Dynax 7 35mm goes for about £150-£200. Except, it's not a metal body like the 7000, or 9000, so won't really stand many knocks, although it will have better metering, better autofocus and will only be about 7 years old at the very most.
Perhaps I should go a Canon route? My aim is to eventually have two working camera bodies - a film body and a digital body, perhaps have an additional Minolta body too, on digital or film that will use my current lenses.
So I'm really confused as to where I should go now. I would prefer not to spend a fortune, although that may be my only option.
Anyway, I could rattle on and on, but I'll leave it at this!
Cheers
