Why, is the baby going to warn us of the dangers of not voting Conservative?

An outpouring of patriotism normally follows a significant royal event. The Tories are normally the party of patriotism in England and as PM David Cameron will get to make an announcement where he'll be all excited.

I know you have a hardon for hating Cameron, but I think it's pretty likely that all the leaders will jump on that particular bandwagon.

I take it you must be sitting at home in tracksuit bottoms all day claiming benefits then because anyone who pays income tax is better off under the last government than they would have been under labour. Care to elaborate more. You seem to be bothered about the bedroom "tax" which indicates you are obviously on some kind of benefits.

I'm slightly better off financially but at what cost socially? The poorest in society being screwed over, a worse NHS, a worse justice system, a more hateful, bitter society.

Life isn't just a spreadsheet of numbers to some people.

There is a lot of uninformed posting going on here in regard to the SNP.

People seem to think that the SNP won't have any choice but to vote with Labour for the duration of the parliament to stop the government collapsing but this is not true.

The fixed term parliament act means that the only way that parliament can be dissolved before the 5 year term of government is up is for 66% of MP's to uphold a vote of no confidence in the government.

This means that if Labour want to get a policy through that will be voted against by the tories, they will need the support of the SNP. If the SNP vote against it too the policy will not be passed. This won't bring down the government.

That is why the SNP are going to be the daddy at Westminster. They will get concessions from the Labour party every time the Labour party requires SNP votes to get a policy passed.

It is a great time to be a Scottish nationalist! Munches popcorn.

Got to respect SNP for picking a female leader. A Thatcher moment for them. Not even Labour have done that.

When you actually see how people have suffered first hand it dawns on you that GDP actually means nothing.

I wish more people had this mentality. Unfortunately most people seem to take the Im alright Jack so screw the rest. Selfish selfish children of Thatcher it seems.

The economic improvement means nothing, when we have poor and disabled people killing themselves because the DWP have sanctioned them for no good reason

Membership means nothing and you know it. If we're going to follows DP's logic then the polls show they've been slipping for quite some time

?Polls? what about actual votes?

Every election since 1997 they get more votes than before... last election they had their first MP voted in.

But you see this as slipping?

It's funny, isn't it? Five years ago we were blaming the bankers and the super-rich for our troubles. Five years is all it has taken to move that anger to the poor, vulnerable and powerless. Five years of stories about the extreme of benefit cheats, used to justify cuts that have left many in poverty.

I'm all for clamping down on benefit cheats, on reducing the ridiculous benefit incomes of those at the extreme, but the welfare system needs to be there for those that need it.
