It has definitely got harder for those that don't want to work. Even low income earners are doing better and earning more after tax than they were due to tax cuts. It should be better to work than be on benefits.

It's funny, isn't it? Five years ago we were blaming the bankers and the super-rich for our troubles. Five years is all it has taken to move that anger to the poor, vulnerable and powerless.

all the time the bankers and super rich are getting more wealthy, whilst everyone else has been screwed

It is a great time to be a Scottish nationalist! Munches popcorn.

First they want independence but they couldn't get that right so now they want to increase their dependence on the English tax payer. Absolutely pathetic. Are they going to be a whole country of the worst type of benefit scum?

It's strange to see record wealth on The Sunday Times Rich List, no? The combined value of the top 1000 has doubled in 10 years, with a net wealth of £100M now required just to make it on that list.

I think it's interesting that UKIP has fallen from ~30% during the EU elections, to 21% when these polls started and now 17%.
That's the beauty of the liberal democracy, freedom of speech means even the nutters have a voice but, in time, their views go under intense scrutiny, which brings out their major flaws and that results in a slow but certain erosion of support from the general public. Even in a right wing leaning forum such as this one.

If Labour manage to win enough votes to form a coalition, which is certainly possible judging by recent polls, what will happen to this forum ? So many toys will be ejected from prams that the server will surely crash. :D

Exactly.

Due to not many policies aligning with SNP apart from a few socialist ones Labour will still have to pass most policies with Conservatives.

I disagree. The current 'coalition', and I use that term loosely, is almost entirely dominated by the Tory party. The Lib Dems are simply window dressing with little power to effect any policies that the Tory party want to implement. So if Labour got in bed with the SNP, the same would be true for that marriage of inequality.

Who will be the first to say, and obviously not follow through, "I'm going to leave the country"? As long as that Hopkins twot leaves it'll be a great day.

If we end up with a coalition of losers, I predict another election within 18 months, and a severely damaged labour party if they sell out England to get power via the SNP.

Oh no, we'll be hanging back and watch the impending disaster, say "I told you so" yet again and then wait for the next general election where we argue again with the socialists with the memory of a goldfish

We have a coalition of losers now that people said would never last at the time, but 5 years later here we are.

LOL, although we could have done better, coalition of losers it is not!

If they wanted to block a conservative policy they could. It will be no different with labour if they get into power. Only a few policies are going to be passed with SNP. They will need to seek out conservatives to pass the rest as lib dems will be too small unfortunately.
