I'm at last just about ready to order my bits for a new build it's for general computing duties with htpc duties as we'll

Hoping to get a few good ideas budget £700 - £1000 less is better

So it must be able to output 1080p films & 3d films do I need a addon graphics card

I will be using my tv for the monitor so it must output sound over hdmi

I want it fast booting so must have a small ssd drive just for os

Not decided on win 8 or 7 yet

I do a bit of photo editing my own pictures & video editing my holiday videos

The rest is mostly general computing also I sometimes leave it on overnight

I do like buying the best I can afford

I want a computer that will last me a few years & be stable

Don't want to be upgrading every year or 2 I'm want 5 years

The reason I picked Bitfenix prodigy is it's got to go in my cupboard & it sits high upon its handles thought it might help ventilation

I have got a couple of hard drives a 1tb wd green & a samsung 2tb I've had them a while

Thanks colin

What's the difference between the i5 CPUs the 4690 & 4670

Also I was thinking of a modular psu making the build a bit easier @ tidy

But not many of them seem to have dimensions of them

Thanks Colin

Thanks for that I think that's the build I'm going with

I used to build computers years ago back in windows 3.1 dos upto windows 98

So things have changed a bit just had good luck with supermicro & asus boards

In the past

Thanks Colin :)

Just read that the motherboard only allows upto 512mb shared mem

If I were to install a graphics card into this system which way would you go

I'm not a gamer

But I do like a quick system

Thanks Colin

Thanks for that

I will order the faster ram

Would it be worth the extra £20 & get the

Msi GeForce gtx 750ti 2048mb

And will these fit in the small case

Thanks Colin

I'm just about to place my order could someone tell me if they think the

Gigabyte z97n gaming would be a better choice motherboard

I'm in no rush to order so the wait for a pre order would be no problem

And the price difference is only a few quid

Thanks Colin
