Hi, forgive me for what may seem a ridiculously boring/dumb question, but if you have your MOT done earlier then when it is due, do you simply lose those otherwise days you have sacrificed when it comes to the renewal. Don't know how to explain it properly. Thanks

If you have it done within a month of the due date then it's renewed from the due date (ie 13 months instead of 12).

This. Once upon a time you used to have to ask the MoT station to use the old date, but now it's automatic as long as you get the test done within the specified period.

Look on your MOT vt 29, in a box on the left-hand side you will see what date you can have the MOT on to carry forward the expiry date.
