also if using 217 it ups the nb freq. should i up the nb voltage too??? and if i up the nb should i increase the fsb propotionally???
so many questions...
I wouldn't adjust the voltages for an overclock but everyone is different.
Have you tried to actually unlock the cores on your processor? That might be a better thing to do rather than overclock the hell out of it and reducing its life.
Also those temps are they the core temps or the CPU?
core temps.
i cant unlock the other cores
how did you manage to only unlock a third core?
i just want to see how high i can get it stable then reduce it bk to 3.5-6 ish.
Some people have gone with 200 x 19 and putting the voltage on the max for the CPU, sometimes it can do 4GHz, but 3.8GHz at full voltage usually works it seems.
1.425 for your 550, and the max temperature is 70 degrees celsius. What i mean is not going above the max voltages and temperature your CPU can do, otherwise you'll fry it.
My 4th core is damaged it appears, system crashes if I enable it but 3rd core works fine.
He is asking you to find out the maximum temperature your phenom can take before it burns up. It is useful to know this. Since we have same CPU it is 70c as stated by AMD but I would be careful if it get anywhere near 60c. I do not know what the max voltages are since I prefer not to mess with voltages when overclocking.
How are you testing the stability of the overclock?
This guide here will give you all the info you need to unlock. It is not difficult but it only works with certain motherboards and BIOS'.
For me, all I had to do was change a few settings in my BIOS and enable the 3rd and 4th cores. of course enabling the 4th causes blue screen meaning that the core is not working.
gigabyte ma 770t ud3p, i know this board is capable.
i enter the bios. enter M.I.T. and go into ACC. select ec firmware thing and change to hybrid then change the other setting below to all cores. then it wont boot so obviously its failed...
i was unaware that you can unlock just the one extra core, im assuming instead of selecting all cores you do it per core until it boots???
also in that link you posted it mentioned upping the v core and nb. ill have to play some more...
Just try the 3rd core on its own for now without adjusting the voltages because I unlocked my 3rd core without touching the voltages. If of course it is unstable then up the voltages and see.
My Third core unlocked fine but the 4th just didnt work even with voltages increases.
oh fair enough, is that ok to push that up that far?
simple then
thats me busy all day tomorrow then!!!
are the same oc's possible with the extra core/s unlocked so long as you keep an eye on the temps?
