I would like to overclock my CPU and my graphics card, i have used a windows based overclocking tool for my CPU and it can do 2.5Ghz with speedfan saying the temp is still under control.

Overclocking CPU:

Ok firstly the tool i have used is "Clock gen for Nforce 4" but everytime i reboot my PC is resets the clocks, so i was wondering if someone could help me with overclocking in the bios, i dont know where i go in the bios and what do i change. I have a AMD 3700+ so i was wondering what is the starting speeds and what should i change it to? Also what tools should i use to keep my system monitored i have speedfan to check the temps but is that accurate? i also have cpu Z so i know what my CPU is running at, any other tools that i need?

Overclocking Graphics:

With my graphics card i ahve a HIS 1800XL and i was wondering what tools i need to overclock my card? I have heard that Rage 3D tweak is ment to be good. Another one is RivaTuner 2.0 but i have no real idea, so could anyone who has experience overclocking the 1800XL help me out?

Thanks

Matt

Have a read of the Overclocking for n00bies thread its quite helpful.

Other tools you will need are Memtest and Prime95, can find them easy enough on the web. You'll need to run Memtest to make sure your RAM can handle the overclock without screwing up and Prime95 stresses the CPU to see if its stable. Ive never overclocked with a Windows tool, and the best way is to do it from the BIOS. Not sure on the motherboard you have so wouldnt be able to help you as things are in different places.

The starting speed of the 3700 is 2.2GHz and you should be able to get at least 2.5GHz hopefully! As for overclocking your video card, ATI Tool is probably the best for that, very useful little program:)
