I have four problems though;

1. Would the silver arrow extreme fit inside the case not obstructing the RAM or anything else like that

2. If any components don't fit could I send them back and get a refund

3. When applying thermal paste what is the best way. I have seen putting just a blob in the centre and spreading it with a plastic bag.

4. After installing windows what do I do about drivers. I have downloaded all the ones I need on another computer and transferred them to a USB stick. I guess then that I put the files on my new computer and install them somehow. I have looked inside the files to see many different things including setup.exe and asussetup.exe. I am unsure on what to do on installation of drivers.

Thanks for everyone who has helped me out on teaching me about building my own and hopefully I can keep a track of what I do.

Another forum member built a system with the Prodigy and the picture shows the cpu cooler size vs rest of the components.

(cant remember the cooler though)

1) I am going to say no (edit- You may be very lucky)

2)You can return under the DSR

3) I use the bag method, but with AS5 I use as recommenced by there website.

4) Just run the setup.exe, this will either extract the files to a folder where you install form there or install them.

Nice spec

1- not sure sorry, should be ok as your RAM is low profile.

I believe you could return it *from ocuk website* 14days satisfaction garuntee

3-From what I've seen a blob in the middle is the best and there is no need to spread it as when you apply your heatsink it will spread then, it's down to personal choice though.

4-Make sure they are the latest ones and are compatible then just run them, they are a really installation progress.

Phew! I will give the silver arrow a try then and return it if it doesn't fit. Probably get a noctua dh14 if it doesn't fit.

I will check the temps and see if I can avoid the hassle.

The most popular method I've seen for applying thermal paste is placing a pea-sized blob on the CPU and then let the heatsink spread it out when it's fitted.

There is a guide that intel created (sure somebody can find it) that shows the best way of applying paste for different processors. I think for most i5s it was a vertical line down the centre. That's what I did and it is fine.

Case dimensions

Internal Dimensions (WxHxD) 250 x 310 x 340 = 26.35 liters

Cooler dimensions

Cooler Dimension: Length 155mm x Width 105mm x Height 165mm (without fans) 155mm x Width 130mm x 165mm (with both TY-143 fan installed)

I think I will keep my build the same. Maybe change my gpu to the windforce as it looks so cool. The HIS looks too much like the reference cooler.

Not sure what to do then. I guess I could try the silver arrow or I could get a noctua as I know it fits.

Any heatsink better than the noctua that would fit in this case?
