A few years ago I got into amateur photography to a minor degree, but then had a child and everything got shelved. I've not got some more time on my hands and I'd like to do something for myself.

Has anybody been on or can recommend a good generalist photography course in the London/South East area which covers creative and technical basics (i.e. composition, metering, depth of field, etc). Possibly with a slight lean towards the more creative side of things because the basics of technical photography I can just revise form books and the web.

Thanks in advance!

I agree with Steve, get out there and shoot, anything technical you're probably better off picking it up online.

The thing I'd find more helpful would be c&c from other photographers. I find flickr great for displaying (and sharing) images, but there isn't enough C&C for my liking even though I tag images 'C&C welcome'.

I'd be up for organising an OCUK London Photo meet if there's enough interest, could even help out with technical bits as I started teaching photography at my local college before moving.

Also there's a couple of really good books you should take a look at:

DK Digital Photography Complete Course

DK Beginner's Photography Guide
DK Digital Photography Masterclass

They're really good and cover all the basics up to advanced level have pictured examples and discuss settings.
