Hey GD.

Im interested in working in Games industry, and will probably be going off to Uni soon after I grab some more money on the side aswell.

I was thinking about this a long time and did a lot of research, yet im not so sure what course would be most fitting.

I understand Comp. Science and Software Engineering are the two majors, so, if I wanted to work for a Game company, which would give me the best opportunity to learn about the industry etc ?

Game industry is flooded right now mate, the amount of courses pumped out into universities with no jobs at the end because everyone is doing games.

Personally, I wouldn't. I wanted to go into the games industry as far back as I can remember and when I got the chance to study for games the heart breaking truth is that the industry is flooded with graduated students waiting for jobs that just aren't there. So I took the decision to study 3D Film. Now the beauty of that was the skills are directly transferable to games as your first few years of study are on programs used in games which builds up your skills and knowledge on how the same technique is used for films. You get the best of both worlds. In the mean time when you have spare time you can concentrate on more games related studying.

3DSMAX and Mudbox being a couple of them.

Any more info mate, just give us a buzz on PM!

theres jobs in other countries though

take you student loan and flee !

and why not ask the companies you are interested in what routes they would advise , im sure they could offer some advice
