So I'm looking for a good monitor ideally for gaming(Battlefield 4) and others.
I'm not too worried on price, just as long as its worth it, in the long run.
I'm just unsure which specs I need....

Theres 144Ghz and 60Ghz monitors and 1080p or 4K, can't really find whats the best fit for me?

Thanks in advance for any answers

Don't get it they are 30Hz TN Panels and not that good at all. If you are play FPS games you might want consider TN Panel 144Hz monitor to get the extra frames can be very helpful.

What graphics card are you running so I can help you out no point in really looking at 4K for gaming unless you rocking either 970 SLI or 980 SLI or Radeon equilivant.

For instance I'm building a 970 SLI build and very interested in this upcoming monitor. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-079-AS&groupid=17&catid=510

I'm rocking Geforce 760

So you want a solid 1080p monitor right then what is more important to you viewing angles and color reproduction or high frame rates and response times for your monitor? You interested in G-Sync at all?

I'm not sure what G-Sync actually is, my current monitor is from 2010 and 720p, Ideally yes, id want a 1080p monitor, so like in battlefield, or Arma 2 Dayz mod, Can see clearer in the distance of enemies etc. And better quality i guess.

I'd say high frame rates and response time would be more ideal for me, what do you think?

you need £1k of GFX cards to run a 4k screen, so don't bother with that.

Linking a competitor website is against forum rules, FYI.

You could consider a 144Hz screen, but doubt you will be able to make use of it in BF4 without turning some graphics down with your current card.

You can get a 144Hz 1080p screen for well under £200.

and very happy with it.

Yeah I would recommend that AOC monitor as well good value for money and has a fair okayish TN Panel.

Looked up G-Sync, so basically its tailored to match my GPU?

Yeah more expensive than normal monitors but it matches the refresh rate of your monitor to the FPS given by your graphics card it makes a more enjoyable gaming experience from what I've heard.

Is there a reason you're going for a 24" 1440p monitor when you could have a 27" for very nearly the same price? I'd worry text would be too small to read without resorting to Windows scaling on a 24" monitor at that res. It's already pretty small on a 27" one.

Hmm honestly it's just the fact 24 inch would fit better on my desk, 27 inch would fit as well but 24 inch would be a better fit. Probably will have to sort out scaling a bit first. I've been tempted to get the AOC G Sync as well.

Why Would i need to turn down the graphics to make use of it?

1080p at 27inch just looks strange, stick to 24inch.

The benefit of a higher Hz monitor (120Hz or 144Hz) is that is displayed 120-144 fps rather than 60fps of 'normal' monitors. With your card and BF4 you would have to turn down a lot of the graphic options in order to reach those frame rates to benefit from the smoothness a higher Hz monitor provides.

So my gpu is the main issue to not leave it on ultra then with a higher Hz monitor? So with a stronger GPU, the monitor would handle it much easier you're saying?

With that GPU, it is unlikely you'll be pushing the type of frame rates to benefit from a 144Hz monitor.

If you plan on upgrading in the future (who doesn't right?) than by all mean still buy one, its not going to cause a problem playing at 60fps on a 144Hz panel.

Will defiantly buy this monitor after x-mas, so exactly what GPU spec's would push a 144ghz monitor to its full potential?

'you need £1k of GFX cards to run a 4k screen, so don't bother with that.'

This is the sort of nonsense that does my head in. My R9 290 runs my 4K screen very nicely thank you and actually so will the op's 760, however, playing the latest games at Ultra settings etc at 60fps, which I personally don't need to do, wont cut it. You can still have a very good experience gaming at 3840X2160 on some older games. I also find I can easily drop to 1440p and the likes of Alien Isolation plays very nicely. Personally I'm not interested in fps, if the game plays smoothly then I'm happy. :)
