Ok

a freind of mine has got some bad screen tearing

5770 - 37 inch tv?

he has tried most interweb forum magical fixe's known
custom rez / custom fps / clean drivers / Re-Format / Triple Buff / V-sync etc

V-sync - Triple buff = input lag
the rest did not work...

Ive never had an issue with tearing.

i thought...

but just tried using full screen in my games and low and behold
the nasty lil blighter is there and bad

i have a 6970 2gb and a 24 inch monitor 60hz - 75 hz

Windowed mode in my games i do not see any tearing at all (or not notice it)

Ive tried all the above allso to "fix" it nothing works

Why do we spend so much on FPS pumping cards
just to use V-sync ?!?!

Does any one here know of any "fix"
or do you just use V-sync and consider it fixed?

are we missing something ?

would like some thoughts suggestion please

It's just best to use V-sync and concider it fixed.

It's best to use a digital cable to transfer the image to displays, when using newer OS's, that way the PC will output the correct frequencies, rather than trying to make one up that would run via VGA.

I've had this problem before when using my LCD & my Monitor together as an extended desktop or duplicate screen. The solution that worked for me was to use JUST the LCD on it's own for games and the tearing went away. So basically just using the LCD as the primary screen and it worked fine. Hope this helps :)
