I built my own system a few years ago now and have a little bit of money this month to do some upgrading. The graphics card has caused me a few issues so I'm gravitating toward swapping that, apart from that I'm just after some general advice on what else is worth doing.

Current spec...

Case:
Corsair Obsidian Series 550D CC-9011015-WW Quiet Mid-Tower Cases

Motherboard:
MAXIMUS VII RANGER (S1150 Intel Z97 DDR3 ATX)

Chipset:
Intel Core i7-4770K

Memory:
8GB (2 × 4gb) Corsair Vengeance Pro Series DDR3 (1866Mhz)

Graphics:
Sapphire Dual-X AMD Radeon R9 270X OC 2GB GDDR5

Disks:
Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB
2 x Seagate Barracuda 3.5 inch 2TB 7200 RPM 64MB 6GB/S Internal SATA Drive

Power:
Corsair CP-9020053-UK RM Series RM550 80 Plus Gold 550W ATX/EPS

CD/DVD:
Samsung 24x Retail SATA DVD Writer

Cooling:
Corsair 120mm Hydro Series H80i Digital High Performance Rad All-In-One Liquid CPU Cooler

I should add, I'm not a gamer as such though I do put my machine through it's paces at times with video editing, Photoshop, batch file processes etc. I run two displays.

If you can justify with lots or heavy video editing a d batch file processing then 8 core intel .
Guessing your using Adobe products ? If so intel still holds the lead bar in Prem Pro where ryzen 8 core can match or beat i7 9700k
