So I was planning on buying a new PC (my current is a piece-by-piece upgraded Dell XPS410 with current specs below) but I think for the time being a general upgrade should be a lot more cost effective. I set out to upgrade just my GPU and CPU initially, but that turned into a new motherboard, new RAM, and a new power supply. I've found a bunch of nice pieces that I think will work together, but the key word is think- I'm far, far from computer saavy, and while I think I can assemble the thing, I'm not so sure about making sure all my bits and pieces are compatible before buying. So that's why I'm here. Besides, I was pointed here by a friend who said you guys were great at helping save money!
So, all that said, here are my current specs-
Plus a 500W power supply.
And HERE are the bits I've found that I think should get me pretty up-to-date if not hopefully a little beyond, to buffer the time before the next upgrade is necessary. It might go without saying, but i'm going for a high-end-ish gaming PC here.
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-H87-D3H LGA 1150 Intel H87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
CPU: Intel Core i5-4430 Haswell 3.0GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I54430
GPU: EVGA 02G-P4-3658-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST SuperClocked 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL
Power Supply: CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply
With shipping and a rebate card or two included, the total price comes to about ~$602.00. I'm not willing to go much higher than this, but any advice on how I could improve this would be very much appreciated, as i'm completely new to upgrading anything beyond a GPU and adding some RAM or a sound card or such.
