Geometry Wars - $2.50 , Bargain.

Played this on my mates xbox, damn addictive and damn fun. Proper old school space shooter where top score is most important

At this price on steam ya cant go wrong! (unless of course its a crap port!)

Played on my housemate's X-Box 360 and the demo on my PC and it was good on the PC although could probably do with a gamepad

Got a decent review in PC Zone last month too

this game rocks, wonder if i'll be able to beat my xbox score

hope they include the retro version in it aswell, dl'ing now!

edit: i'm getting really bad sound problems, just it's really fuzzy whenever a noise is made in the game, running on audigy2 zs, anyone else got this?

I'm also getting bad sound. It's very fuzzy, i've got an Audigy 4.

Seems fun though.

I just bought it. Fired it up once, went into the options and changed the res to 1050 x 1680, it locked. restarted PC and now it won't fire up.

Double click on it, it states that Steam is starting the game and then..... nothing. Anyone else had this or anyone know how to cure it?

It's on Steam? Awesome. I'd expected this to be some kind of Windows Live/Vista exclusive.

I'm firing up Steam to get it right now, because the game is awesome. Grid Wars was a poor man's clone.

EDIT: And of course, I have a 360 wired pad for it. Hell yes.

EDIT 2: Nuts, it doesn't like my temporary rad9000, suprise.

Brilliant game, i've played it more on my 360 than anything else. Looks like i'll have to buy it via steam for the PC as well

I've still no idea how people can score well into the millions, even after playing it for so long on the 360 my highest score is still only around 650K

I don't know but it worked fine for me first time setting it to 1680x1050. I've just got the sound problem.

EDIT: Just found something on the steam forums that may help with sound problems:

EDIT: That seems to have sorted it. I had to set it to the second one from bottom level of hardware acceleration.

This has to be the best bargain to turn up on steam in a long while.

$2.94 (with vat) probably less than £3 even after the bank has had it's pound of flesh for currency conversion. This is how casual games should be priced on steam, non of this $19.95 nonsense for popcap games!

I fear this may end up been my most played game on steam

Awesome game paid £4 a think on msn games 3 weeks ago after reading the Pc Zone review. Anti Aliasing setting won't work for me. Its vista only isn't it?

That's what I thought and that's what the PC Zone review said (and in the demo) but I've heard that it will work on XP - maybe now it's on Source it's no longer Vista only?

Just bought it via Steam, running XP and it works fine (well apart from the sound).

I wonder if its worth starting a PC Geometry Wars hi-score thread since it doesn't appear to upload scores to a global table like the 360 version.

Yeah I agree. I enjoy small cheap games like this, as I get bored quickly normally

I'm getting this as well,anyone any idea's :confused:

makes no difference what res i'm selecting,just locks up

EDIT-All sorted,startup in windowed mode,select 1680x1050 & AA the restart in fullscreen & bingo....it works

What a game !! Brilliant !!
