Anyone else use good old Georgy for their grilling?

We binned our last one as it didnt have the removable plates and cleaning it was a pain, as by the time the thing cooled, everything got stuck on there.

So we got one of these removable plate ones, should make it easier and more motivated to use the old George.

We've got the "entertaining" version - it's rather large and my only gripe is the that as stated above, it can be a bugger to clean if not wiped down straight after use.

Very versatile and quick though!

Does anyone have any generic cleaning tips for them? The missus would be eternally greatful.

Had one ages ago, something I found helped after grilling and leaving to go eat and ofc everything sticks.

Solution: take some kitchen paper and soak it in water and I man soak, turn on Forman place WET kitchen paper on the Forman and let it "STEAM" the grime loose and it will all fall off with a quick wipe of a cloth.
Remember to have that drip tray there else counters get dirty :p

Hope this helps.

oh and paper MUST be soaked don’t go starting no fires ye hear ;)

Oil also, warm it up and rub veg oil using a kitchen paper towel from time to time between use, this will help keep the teflon properties to it.

Good idea to do this with your pans too :)

I had one of the older george foreman grills, back when they used to be heavy solid machines. It eventually died (segment display went first), teflon coating had come off so when it stopped heatting up I decided to get a new one rather then check the thermal cutout. I really wish I had fixed it now.

The new one is a 'classic' a bit smaller then the old one we had but the same design, and it feels so cheap. The 2nd time we used it, the plastic cap on the power indicator fell off and lifting the lid makes the unit itself slide about because its far too light now. Quite annoyed, and the teflon coating has started to come away... I really hate buying from Argos - it feels like everything I buy from there is substandard, falling apart, and fails.

Still, I won't go back to not using a georgy grill, they've become part of the way I cook now and can't see myself going back.

As has been said, you need to clean them when hot, the hotter the better. If find a washing up sponge works best.

I always found that mine never got hot enough. Much prefer using a griddle pan. Granted the juices don't flow away like on a GF but just didn't like the way it cooked food.

Or do like me, get the removable plate one - the plates come off and either in the dishwasher or bowl. No more sticky nights.
