When did the line between professional sportsman and lout get so fine? So a swimmer can be banned for X months for just a photo, but Gerrards gets away with appalling behaviour on and off the pitch and is rewarded with an armband...

Strange how supporting a football team on the one hand seems to mean some sort of religious idolization of players on 'your side', and also some sort of demonizing of every other teams supporters? Just never understood the 'tribe mentality'... :)
 
A jury at Liverpool Crown Court agreed with Mr Gerrard's assertion that he was acting in self-defence.

The 29-year-old footballer, of Formby, Merseyside, was the only one of seven men to be cleared over the violence.

Was he being attacked? No... Was he being prevented from walking away? No... Was the 1st punch self defense? Or the 2nd? Or the 3rd?
