I've finally got all my financial commitments out the way so I'm now going to have an influx of spare cash each month so I'm looking to to upgrade my GPU as nothing seems worth while CPU wise at the moment.

I'm traditional "Red camp" and have always preached the red camps value for performance however im starting to feel dangerous.... not in a Jimmy Saville way but about my GPU choices.

Im budgeting £400-£500 with the below examples... I know the MSI 780TI is over budget but it was on offer the other day for £479 so i'm willing to hold out for another 780TI deal if need be plus it will be a few months before i'm buying.

Budget: £400-£500
Cooling: Air
Resolution: 2560x1080 Max (Planning forward for a monitor upgrade)

So whats the thoughts? Do I go for a Classy and try clocking the bejeebus out of it or get a TI and add a modest clock or stay red team with a 290X.

I am sorted. :D

I know you genuine but its going to be opening can of worms.

I says this seriously, search how many 200 series have issues and do same for Nvidia (not talking years past).

Some are user error but many are not.

I would be looking at the Ti's but the 6GB' version are near.

See what both sides offer and go from there.

Does amd mantle interest you? Does nvidia Physx interest you?

I am indifferent to both, Physx looks nice admittedly and Mantle interests me to a degree with possible performance gains but I'm not swaying from Intel CPU's anytime soon unless AMD come up with a killer so I'm not going to get the full benefit of mantle so i'm not overly concerned.

Mate Trust me when I say this. Mantle don't need amd cpu to get the performance boost.
My pc alone has showed massive gains running mantle.

I've owned :-

780 Lightning, 780 Classi , Crossfire 290x, i currently have a 290p in my amd rig and a 780ti in my intel rig , in my mind the 780ti was worth the extra over the rest, its been flawless , i still find the r290's lackluster and quirky, Mantle is ok but even on the amd rig i dont really see a night and day difference, i woudnt call it a deal breaker .

Nvidia
Physx
Gsync - still not fully released.
Shadow play, very good recording performance let down by lack of killer features that other software have like dxtory.
Game experience think it's called.

Anything else?

Amd
Mantle
TrueAudio
Action not free like shadow play gpu enabled recording but again lacks features.
Amd gaming envoled
Freesync - not released
Anything else?

Shadowplay is Beta still, I aint used non free dxtory but what does it do extra?

Multi audio device recording. It's this killer feature why all big "YouTubers" won't stop using dxtory.
What this means is you can be in a teamspeak chat and have the game audio and ts recorded into separate streams.
MMake for better editing by not having friends talking mixing into the audio.
Yeah it's great that shadow play is beta but I wouldn't get your hopes up for some of dxtory features, for some reason all other big recording software still haven't been able to add this like fraps or hardware recording.

It's features like this why dxtory will never be beaten.

Shadowplay added a few audio features last build and are to add more to do with you mentioned, again its beta and free.

The circled one is new but I know they are adding some setting to help with Twitch etc.

Which ever one is cheaper unless you want specifics like PhysX or True Audio / Mantle

There is nothing else to put between them, just price.

I thought it was relevant for OP. :)

Assume that was before the last Nvidia drivers with good gains in DX11?

Power usage/heat/noise also.

Not the same thing am talking about. Mic is just you recording.
You can not separate game audio from teamspeak or Skype.
If you think for one second shadow play will get multi device audio recording you can think again.
Like i said loads people been crying for it to come to other software/hardware and have failed.
It's like if dxtory have got it patented or something

GeForce Experience - Shadow Play is nice, its a nice thing to have IMO, AMD could do with something like it as a little sweetener, that's what it is for Nvidia.

RadeonPro is better as a tweakers tool, much better. but what that needs is updating.

@ shankly1985 I know what you meant and said that was the added feature last build with more to come and its talked of in the forums, I would say it will get it and doubt it will effect any patents others have.

TBH I ain't really into recording gameplay, did so in past.

@ Hummy : For tweaking basics, Precision or AB and for geeks nvidiaInspector.

But then ask yourself why when everyone else as failed do you think nvidia will get it? Good on them if they do manage and it will then become a almost complete package. Still lacking above 1080p recording etc but from a sole person shadow play is very nice.
It's when you want to record with friends does it really lack. I know all this because I talk to quite a lot off big YouTube guys.
I don't do recording myself never have the time. Am more a viewer. :D
