OK so my DG834T may be on the blink and I'd like to try a firmware upgrade (I have a spare sky router anyway).

I've tried the method that is supposed to end up with my browsing to 192.168.0.1/netgear.cfg then downloading a text file with the details in it but it always brings up "file 404 not found" when I browse to that page.

I think it might be something to do with IE7, I've tried installing IE6 and it doesn't want to know (I know its possible but jeeze... longwinded much?) so, is there any other way round?

I even tried a method that puts it in debug mode, requires you to go to the command prompt and go from there but the standard username and password don't work.

Any smart kids out there to help?

ok, so I had the idea of using the last one they didn't collect when they replaced it with the one I'm using now and got the username/password.. no reason to think they would have changed the username and password is there?

ok so i've done this now (basically go with XP, this doesn't like Vista at all).. got my username/password. Reflashed to both a standard netgear firmware and tried the ubergt firmware and both connect but gice me a silly low download speed.

For example before I switched back to my standard (iffy) DG834GT I was getting a download speed of 300 and something kbps and 700kbps upload.

Now I have 14000 kbps download and 700kbps upload.

So where has my download speed gone in the transfer?

Is it pretty simple? I have had a google and lots of people seem to moan about this issue, lots of people moan at the moaners for moaning about it because they're fine and no one offers any solutions!
