Get rid of things in text boxes

How do I get rid of it remembering things that start with the same lettre in text boxes?
Like, in google, say, I don't want it to keep coming up with all the stuff for what you have previously entered.
I use firefox.

Tools, options. privacy tab. Then clear data and uncheck the "remember" field.
Think that should work

In firefox 1.5, Tools->Options->Privacy->Saved Forms->Untick "Save information I enter in forms and Search Bar"

Think you will have to click the Clear button as well to remove current data. Not sure if unticking it actually clears the contents
