get rid of this file

hi guys im running out of ideas of how to delete this folder that windows has for some reason put onto my external hard drive, there was 2 and i got rid of the first by changing the security permissions etc thought i would do the same with the other and no still no luck, im constantly being told i need permission from SYSTEM, however under the security settings for my account and the folder i have full access on the folder, however on the sub sections and files i cant select full control (access denied)

ive tried to do the same in safe mode, even using cmd still nothing

any advice?

Have you taken ownership of the folder?

yeh i tried that in safe mode using cmd and takeown, all i kept getting was that the phrase takeown wasnt recognized with cmd

on another note, i also tried remdir using cmd and typing the directory of the folder still nothing

thanks for the input, i have solved it now

i searched again and found a website that used the "take ownership" method, however had different files to what i had used previously, hence now it worked

No problem

Just for future reference you can also take ownership by doing the following;

Right click and go to Properties of Folder> Security Tab > Advanced > Owner tab

You can edit the owner of the file/folder here.
