Get the Samsung Tab Pro 10.1" or wait it out for Nexus ?

I am currently in the market for a tablet. I want one that is around the 10" mark as the 7" tablets just seem like an oversized phone to me.

I will be mainly using it at uni during lectures to view pdf documents, general internet browsing and watching films when on holiday.

The tablet itself has to be android as I am very accustomed to this software and my business heavily uses Google products for e-mail, calender etc.

I have looked at the Samsung Tab Pro which I like very much and is around my budget of ~£300. However, I have been told that the new Nexus tablet is due to be released soon, but I cannot find a conclusive date for the release, especially the bigger 10"+ version.

Now the question is, is the new Nexus going to be sufficiently better than the tab Pro to wait around a month to get my tablet?

Thanks,
Sav

I have the pro 8.4". I had the tab 2 10.1" before and found it a bit big. The 8.4 I think is a perfect size. Excellent screen. Really good battery life too. I wouldn't go any bigger but like you, Find 7" a bit small. The 8.4 I got for £219 at John Lewis too with at John 2 yr warranty.

Nexus 9 is shaping up to be a tasty tablet.

HTC Made, 64bit Tegra K1, 1440 res and Android L. Bets are Oct/Nov release.

I'd never buy anything nexus based since I had 5 (no, seriously that's not an exaggeration) nexus 7s simply die on me. Bear in mind these were just 'sofa surfers' and never even left the flat, they all showed the same symptom at time of death, static on the screen for a few seconds, then black. They never turned on again. Argos said they were not replacing another one so I got a refund and gave up. Gutted because they did work very well when they did work. :(

I want to replace my iPad 3 with an Android tablet of some kind as iOS's shoddy, absolutely poor photo management drives me up the wall. I'll miss all the quality iOS apps but what the hell. I just want stock android rather than touchwiz so I'll hold out for the Nexus 9, think the OP would be best doing the same too.

My GF has recently bought a 10" Samsung tablet - not sure what specific model yet but it is crammed with S-Apps from what screenshots I've seen. Not want!

Think you're shooting yourself in the foot here.
The new Nexus will not be built by Asus.

Still running on the original Nexus 7 here, although it's slooooooow. New Nexus tablet will be a definite buy for me!

Yep me too!! :D

And sometimes it's like running through treacle! It's sooooooo slow to do anything, tried loads of ROM's on it, but back on Stock at the mo (v4.4.4 - Rooted) :)

My Nexus 4 is blisteringly fast compared!! :D

My Wife won't let me upgrade to summut faster as it's faster than her Lumia 620 so she's happy!! :(

Maybe (probably) I am, it was just a terrible experience all round. The N7 was always meant to be a budget device I suppose. I have a habit of loading CM11 onto anything I get anyway so it's all the same in the end. I didn't do that with the N7, just in case you were thinking that's what deaded it. :p
