I have a spare 24" tft monitor that id like to use to watch tv. Is there some sort of freeview box/receiver etc i could plug into the monitor and receive tv or an adapter convert from scart to vga input.

Any other suggestions would be helpful. Cheers

Adapters are available.

If your stuck with just a VGA input then try Googling 'SCART to VGA' and you should find some cables that may allow you to connect directly to a set top box (it'll depend on whether your screen can handle the lower refresh rate). There are also dedicated tuner boxes available with VGA outputs, try Googling 'Freeview VGA' and you should find some possible options.

If your screen with handle HDMI then there are plenty of up scaling Freeview boxes with HDMI outputs.

I have no idea how well any of these options work in practice.

If your screen has a DVI port on it then it can take a HDMI signal, sound might be tricky though....

Have a look for something like a KWorld VGA TVBox or a Gadmei TV Box. They will let you watch TV on monitor without PC. Dont know what the Gadmei's are like but mate has a KWorld and looks fine.

I have a Gadmei. It's not so great for TV to be honest, the reception is fairly fuzzy (but I can watch TV fine via my TV card so it's not the location).

However it was great for what I wanted it or (Playing my Playstation2 on my monitor).
