i upgraded my cpu and mobo and ram as i was getting lows of 15-20 in my new games....no wmy lows are no less than 40fps...in fact games like sleeping dogs stay at 40-45fps mainly...with hd textures whereas before without hd textures they would drop to 20fps.

my curent gpu is old.5770 1gb hd.

but if my lows are only 35-40fps and my max hz on monitor 60hz is it worht buying a new gpu just so i can get minimums of 50-60hz?

Really is 40fps that bad at all? will i notice diff if i am getting lows of only 50-60 compaered to 35-40?

sub 30 was bad sure but 40 is ok? no point buy 200 quid card for that? wait til next year?

what do you suggest?

A 7950 will be good for you.

The Anandtech link above shows a stock 7950 vs a 660Ti but the drivers have improved performance somewhat over that. Additionally, the 7950 overclocks a long, long way (north of 30%) so there's plenty more performance to be had from it.

but wil my 520w corsair psu be ok?

really? so id be better with 7850 2gb than 7950 3gb

I am only playing 1080p and i read someone was playing games at 5000x2000??? on a projector at ultra details with a 7950 and getting 60-100fps!!

so if im only on 1080p maybe 7850 will be enough anywya?

Poor to see that no one asked the op if the lows were good enough for him. :(

So I'll say it, are you having an enjoyable experience and the minimums don't cause any apparent slowdowns?

If it's fine for you then keep your money.

However if it's a pat on the back with replies of 'go for it, get a...' as purchase justification, then this is the place to come.:)

erm i really dont know tbh with you?

I mean i was playing sleeping dogs and at worst 35-40fps....Now i must admit driving in a sandbox open world game in hong kong that it didnt look all that smooth when i turned fast or looked in other dircetions.

But when i played cod4...fraps was saying 150fps(weird as my monitor is 60hz) yet i still felt that when moving fast and looking about there was an element of blur etc..

Maybe the fact is when gaming that when you move about and look variosu directions fast its never 100% completely smooth and if i am not playing the game but moreso tyring to analayse and examine blur/stutter in a game i will see it regardless of fps.

Maybe if I just play the game for fun I wont notice these issues at 40 or 60fps.

I must admit I could not play bf3 on my old system..at 15-20fps lows it was very noticeable.

I have only installed cod4 and sleeping dogs, so yet to try out bf3 that will be the true test...online gaming with many players in server...my system used to slow down with more players but thats a cpu issue moreso than gpu issue right?

SO that should be solved now?

A new gf card wont make the images look any prettier right? It just means I can get more fps? It wont make it look nicer at same settings?

erm i really dont know diff between 35 and 60fps...i would need to really try out...I guess 60 will be a lot smoother.

But 35-40 is stil very playable...many console games are 30fps right?

I was getting 15-25 that was unplayable.

MOney is no problem though so if you had unlimeted money why play at 35 when u can play at 60 right?

and may as well buy 7950 as it will last longer

The extra stuff you turn on in the control panel can transform a fairly average game in to something special.

For example the other day I played a fairly plain looking game "dead island" and after turning on all the extra features in my nvidia control panel it was one of the best looking games I had ever seen.
On my old 6790 the game looks something like a xbox 360 game but on the 66oti it looks generations ahead.

Also when your hitting a steady 60fps the textures look much more detailed.

I never edit options in the control panel.

Only in game...what do you suggest I do to improve games if I buy a 7950 and am getting 60fps I will be able to bump on settings in the conrtol panel i guiess

I see and as far as i am aware you can save profiles to .exe of games so when you load up a game the ATi contorl panel will cahnge settings for that game..so it seems?
